TLANTA – Minneapolis has been awarded the 2018 Super Bowl by NFL owners.

The owners rewarded the Vikings for arranging to build a new stadium on the site of the old Metrodome by choosing Minneapolis over New Orleans and Indianapolis.

The big game will be staged in the Twin Cities for the second time. It was there in 1992, when Washington beat Buffalo.

Minneapolis' new $1 billion stadium is scheduled to open in 2016.

One of the newspapers has a photo of Bud Grant with a column titled "Bud Grant on 2018 Super Bowl in Minnesota: 'I hope I'm around'":

From what I can find, this is the sixth game in Monday Night Football history. The sharpness in quality is impressive. Keith Jackson did PxP.

“...we often wonder what it must be like to live above the Arctic Circle in a place like Green Bay, with its permafrost and 10-month winters, where the first snow starts falling in mid-August. ;-)”

Green Bay, Canada?

Interesting how the Canadian guy in the YouTube video segued into a reference to Rocky & Bullwinkle, who hail from Frostbite Falls, Minnesota (which could be in Canada, but isn’t. Minnesota, that is.) ;-)

It was...and it was a total mess.

We just don’t have the equipment to keep up with an ice storm. Maybe Minneapolis does...but not Dallas.

No, real Viking fans will not be able to attend this Super Bowl.

The NFL controls ticket distribution for Super Bowls. They put a relatively small percentage out for public sale, or to be distributed by the host team. A few thousand locals may be able to buy tickets to the game. But not many. You won’t have 70,000 local Minnesotans there.

Frostbite Falls is probably close to International Falls which is very close to the border of Canada. Easy to get mixed up!

Dayton's re-election is now secure. All local media are fawning all over him even more than usual.

They're all claming how much money it's going to bring “the state”. As if people in Biwabik and Red Wing are somehow going to find themselves in the money-this is strictly pork for Minneapolis. Millionaire Dayton scratching the back of his billionaire pal Ziggy.
