U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston and former Dollar General CEO David Perdue have advanced to a Republican runoff in Georgia's hotly contested Senate race, Perdue had more than 30 percent of the vote to Kingston's nearly 26 percent.

Kingston drawing on his establishment support and the backing of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce to fight off the "outsider" campaign of Perdue, the cousin of former Gov. Sonny Perdue. Neither has the support of the state's tea party crowd, which saw its best hope fade with former Secretary of State Karen Handel.

Karen Handel is a hack. Her past associations are dubious and she is go along to get along. Her great claim was she could work across the aisle. Palin picked wrong on this one. I am glad she lost. She is Sysan Collins light

It’s in a no brainer in my mind, every thinking conservative should oppose Perdue.

Kingston isn’t THAT bad, probably an improvement over Suxby.

Well, just damn! Looks like GA is like most other States... Can’t find a decent Conservative candidate to run against Liberal, Commie Democrats. These are days that try men’s souls.

Perdue is not a bad candidate. His positions are conservative. He is a business man and NOT a DC creep. I will take him over Kingston any day. If Jack is in the general I will not vote for him

The attacks against Handel sound like a bunch of BS to me. “Susan Collins lite” GMAFB.

Not that it matters now.

Variety of comments, on this Thread, on all three of the candidates. Check this out:

Perdue is the bigger RINO. I back Kingston in the runoff.

I will not vote the snake Kingston. He is as sleazy as they come

I am no fan of Karen Handel - a perpetual candidate with no record of accomplishment....

OMG... it’s getting crazy. A Conservative State like Georgia can’t even find a decent Conservative candidate to run for office anymore. What is wrong with this picture? I guess it’s true that 90% of all politicians are dishonest, have no integrity, are crooks, non-achieving, narcissistic, scum bags......

RINOs lie to the rubes. How many times do we hear, “I’m a true Conservative,” and they vote with the establishment. Perdue is a phony. Kingston is a career politician. Neither is a Tea Partier.

We’re never going to change Washington for the better with these same cretins winning office over and over.

Handel is a “decent conservative”. Gingery is a “decent conservative”. And I think Kingston is one too.

Lots of information and disinformation, wide field. It’s not that surprising that FR is so divided over this race.

Did you guys actually read the article?

And I quote:

“Kingston drawing on his establishment support and the backing of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce “

If the establishment AND the US Chamber of Commerce are supporting this hack, then he is an Amnesty supporter, period.

We lose.

Yup, he is. And Perdue is still a total fraud and using a political name, so he is a politician, too. Neither can be trusted by Conservatives.

I wasn't thrilled with any of the candidates, but the comments on here tonight sound like a lot of freepers had a huge axe to grind. "Perdue is Democrat lite running on his last name!" "Kingston is an entrenched RINO hack!" "Handel is a Susan Collins clone!!"

On the plus side, at least we don't have any "independent conservative Georgia patriots" claiming that Michelle Nunn is "more conservative than any of the RINOs, and possibly more conservative than any yankee Republican". They sure liked to apply that delusion to her dear ol' daddy, and to numerous other Georgia RATs like Zell Miller and Roy Barnes. Either they were neo-confederates who suffered from the delusional that the RATs were the "true" conservative party, or they suffered from Stockholm syndrome.
