On January 3, 2013, Breitbart News reported on the newest FBI crime statistics then available (2011) showing that more people are killed with hammers and clubs each year than are killed with rifles.
With newer crime statistics now out for 2012, Breitbart News can report that more people are killed each year with fists and hammers than are killed with rifles or shotguns.

We need Federally-mandated Fist and Hammer Controls NOW!
And more people, for the last 100 years at least, have been killed by a government’s action of some kind than any other non-natural death.

Hammers? Yeah, I have several assault hammers. Mean looking they are. Hell, sometimes when I’m feeling saucy, I’ll OPEN CARRY a hammer or two.
:) Yeah, there ya go. Except my hammers are much meaner looking. It’s super easy to imagine my hammers doing really life-taking stuff to people. Utter destruction oozes from them.

Table 20 shows that murders by firearms by State has California (with some of the most bizarre & extreme gun control laws in the USA) as having fully the most murders (1879) of any state. California again shines as an example in leading in firearms related robberies in Table 21, as it also does in firearm related aggravated assaults. So much for gun control laws in the great state of California.
Table 6 Murders by Metropolitan Area (listing those in excess of 10 murders per 100,000 people) also shows where the real murders are taking place in this country. We don't have a firearms murder problem we have a Big metropolitan area drug/gang/poverty crime problem that results in murders.
