The TSA has issued a solicitation requesting 24 million rounds of .357 SIG “duty ammunition” over a five year period, prompting fresh questions as to whether the federal agency is planning to arm its workers.
“Estimated quantity is approximately 4,800,000 rounds of .357 Sig duty ammunition per year, totaling 24,000,000 over the life of the contract,” states the solicitation, posted on FedBizOpps, which adds that the ammo is for use at “DHS component locations nationwide.”

The Feds are buying many calibers in their armament program. .40 S&W, .357 Sig, , 9mm, and most of them hollow point slugs. H P rounds are illegal for military use. Seems like the decision makers are reading the literature on what is the most popular round of the moment and then buying it. Not much thought on what gun is going to shoot it.
USDA just put out a request for an MP5 type sub-gun that will launch the .40. I guess they felt a little out gunned in Nevada with their Glock 22’s against some serious firepower.
Why not? Every other Federal Agency is getting armed.
What agency has the .357 Sig round pistols? TSA? Most airports use local law enforcement for security and most cop shops use .40 cal. Do the feds just have another warehouse to fill with more ammo?
Better body armor penetration with the right projectile?
Not body armor but better performance than the 9mm but less recoil then a 40.
The specifications are for hollow point rounds.
They must penetrate at least 12 inches of gelatin after going through 2 sheets of 20 gauge, galvanized steel and ‘light clothing’ . Sounds like they want to nail folks in cars.
Also must penetrate gelatin after going through laminated glass at a 45 degree angle. aka: Windshield.
The TSA will be chasing folks through the parking lot.

I've relocated the entire family out of the city in anticipation. Of course that doesn't bring any guarantee, but one does the best one can.

I predict a rash of accidental discharges, lost/stolen weapons, grab-ass homicides, and other forms of FedGov sponsored hijinx.
They already do, however this is usually given the trappings of SOP and/or official investigation.
I think that what we should be on the lookout for is a drop in info from any midsized cities, an information-blackout could indicate things happening.
The other way for a big operation to go down is as response to 'terrorism' which may or may not be a false-flag op.

It’s standard Air Marshal ammo. Moves fast, hits hard, shouldn’t need a followup, limited penetration. Costs a lot in both ammo and the barrels it tears up in practice. It’s what you buy when price is no object but performance & availability is.
Please provide a verifiable source of information for that 2 billion number. Of course you cannot. Please don’t post BS on this forum.

One of the things the Art of War teaches is to let your enemy supply you inasmuch as possible and to deny him supplies from afar [i.e. make his army have to carry everything they need, as it tiers out his soldiers and places more concerns on them]. — .223 is a very common civilian round, so to destroy it would be to deny it falling into their enemy's
hands.
