WASHINGTON Secretary of State John Kerry has agreed to testify before the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform over the 2012 attacks on the American diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya.
In a letter to Representative Darrell Issa, Republican of California, the committees combative chairman, the State Departments assistant secretary for legislative affairs, Julia Frifield, expressed surprise at Mr. Issas May 14 subpoena commanding the secretary of state to appear.
While she declined to make Mr. Kerry available next Thursday, the day the chairman had demanded, she offered two dates next month.
He will be fully occupied with critical diplomatic engagements following the May 25 presidential election in Ukraine, she wrote, offering June 12 or June 20 instead. Continue reading the main story Related Coverage

What are the caveats??? Immunity???
Sure I’ll testify, but only if I can lie, you don’t cross examine and ask no questions .... otherwise .. fugehdaboudit.
He just sits there looking normal. Like dumb.
Another fifth amendment extravaganza, after the customary denial of any wrongdoing, of course.
I wonder if the reason the DEMS are so resistant to allowing Kerry to testify, is that they KNOW he will make some stupid remarks ?
I’m sure he’ll do a great imitation of Sgt. Schultz.
How can he testify on Benghazi? He was a member of Congress at the time....not Secretary of State. Anything he knows is second hand...aka...Obama approved.
Did you know that John Kerry got a Purple Heart in Viet Nam?
John Kerry’s purple heart got a purple heart in Vietnam.
Kerry has blocked Benghazi documents for a year now. he needs to be questioned.
looks like ‘if he appears here, he wont appear there’
“Kerry Agrees to Testify for Caviar”
You must have missed his elated blubbering promises and assurances given to his former best friends forever in the senate, lauding and effectively slobbering over their “thoughtful”, important questions and distinct right of oversight. How happy he would be to provide them all they deemed necessary of those prickly documents.
Just give him a ringy ding ding, and he would eagerly drag them over with his own teeth on his hands and knees!
It was spectacular ingratiation. Wholly false, but spectacular. :) Rita
Dean Wormer: Greg, what is the worst fraternity on this campus?
Greg: Well that would be hard to say, sir. They're each outstanding in their own way.
Dean Wormer: Cut the horses**t, son. I've got their disciplinary files right here. Who dropped a whole truckload of fizzies into the swim meet? Who delivered the medical school cadavers to the alumni dinner? Every Halloween, the trees are filled with underwear. Every spring, the toilets explode.
Greg: You're talking about Delta, sir.
Dean Wormer: Of course I'm talking about Delta, you TWERP!!! This year is going to be different. This year we are going to grab the bull by the balls and kick those punks off campus.
Greg: What do you intend to do sir? Delta's already on probation.
Dean Wormer: They are?
Greg: Yes, sir.
Dean Wormer: Oh. Then as of this moment, they're on double secret probation!
Greg: Double secret probation, sir?
Dean Wormer: There is a little-known codicil in the Faber College constitution which gives the dean unlimited power to preserve order in time of campus emergency. Find me a way to revoke Delta's charter. You live next door. Put Neidermeyer on it. He's a sneaky little sh**, just like you, right? [Greg nods] The time has come for someone to put their foot down. And that foot is me.
Let's not leave the decision to Kerry/Obama handlers. The decision would be better made by the House Republicans. IMO Issa is not as qualified to exam Kerry or the Benghazi issue as is Trey Gowdy. (I.e., Gowdy will not screw it up.)
Make sure he gets sworn in—under oath.
Unlike Cankles.
It does make a difference.
“What are the caveats??? Immunity???”
I think that this is standard stuff. Usually they won’t reveal specific conversations with the President because that might be “privileged”. They usually throw that out there as kind of a preemptive warning not to ask certain types of questions. Sometimes those questions get asked anyway and they just decline to answer and point to their written response.
