I’ll post a picture of Helen Thomas, Photoshopped...NUDE in front of it.

Get a remote IR extension and put the cable box in a cabinet or closet.

I figured they could listen through your TV 40 years ago. A speaker makes a pretty good microphone.

I assume you know about

http://www.antennaweb.org

Worthwhile to throw on the thread in any case, for those trying to kick the cable habit, or wanting a backup. Broadcast often gets you a higher quality (less compressed) picture, too. Good for sports.

i had directtv from when it first came out (1995 or 7?) until last year and got rid of it for a roku and the outside antenna (for weather/local news),

i refused to pay to support cnn, msnbc etc.,

have never looked back and haven’t regretted it,

have saved $1300 already,

Funny.

I was just did this for a friend.

All the AV is in a cabinet, in another room and we extended it using IR’s.

We also use them, as our AV is in a cabinet, so everything is out of sight and presents a nice clean look.

I could easily move everything to the garage and using telecom racks move everything completely out of eavesdropping range.

I could even “circulate” the air with fans, creating “White Noise”.

I’ll deal with it when it presents itself.

Great idea.

thnx...

cameras in the box are for remote monitoring.

phones are used for remote listening.

wifi is used for local telemetry within a residence, allowing those outside to determine where in the residence people are standing

glass can be used for local listening using a line of sight laser

IO ports into a router from the ISP and IO ports OUT of a router to the ISP can be blocked with the advanced setup page on most higher-end routers. It’s firmware blocking so there is no software that can feel its way around it.

I don’t have cable but if they’re watching me they are surely asleep now. My life is so boring they could use the video to help insomniacs

The gov, along with other illegal hackers, already can turn on the camera and mic on the laptop. And listen on the cell phone. So what’s a little more illegal and unconstitutional intrusion into privacy?

The day it happens is the day I go exclusively with the antenna.

Black electrical tape works great. Had a Pontiac van that had all kinds of electrical sensor problems. We have all seen that little “check engine” light that comes on in the dash lights, mine keep coming on frequently and every time I took the vehicle in for inspection, it was another problem that had not surfaced before. I finally had enough of PONTIAC and decided the car was going, one way or another. Put black electrical tape over the “Check Engine” light, when to a Ford dealer and traded it off. Hope none of you never bought that piece of junk.

I wonder what they would do if you opened it up and disconnected the mic and cam?

Since the box is leased from the cable companies, they'd just send out a friendly technician to replace it for you.

And when they discovered you modified their property, they'll just repair it and add the costs to your next cable bill.

Old tech electrical tape over the front!

Hell no. But I would masturbate to it every chance I got.

With plenty of nice big-ole closeups of the man-junk.

You have finally figured it out, right down to the Manchurian Shooters.

Very convenient for Obama that a few score KINDERGARTNERS were gunned down BY AN AR-15.... ONLY A FEW WEEKS AFTER HIS RE-ELECTION.

Maximum carnage, maximum 'perfect timing'. I ain't buying it.

Didn't work out for him like he thought, so that explains his little petulant fit on camera when he lost it about the NRA...

Let me know when you find a really good antenna. Mine's okay, but not quite reliable enough to give up minimal cable.

What I do is watch as much TV as comes in clearly as I can on an antenna, on a different TV.

They knew about the Boston Marathon bombers

I don't believe the gov wants these events. It's more likely they knew about it but thought the Tsarnov brothers and their family were working for the CIA. The lads didn't support their families CIA ties. JMHO
