JERUSALEM (AP) — Pope Francis delivered a powerful boost of support to the Palestinians during a Holy Land pilgrimage Sunday, repeatedly backing their statehood aspirations, praying solemnly at Israel's controversial separation barrier and calling the stalemate in peace efforts "unacceptable."

Palestinian officials hailed Francis' decision to refer to the "state of Palestine." In its official program, the Vatican referred to President Mahmoud Abbas as the president of the "state of Palestine," and his Bethlehem office as the "presidential palace." He pointedly called Abbas a "man of peace."

The authors of this article are obviously pro-Palesimian, and I urge skepticism on that basis

Pro-Palestinian War activists at Al Reuters? Really????

7 years? Or is it more exact to say 3 and a half?

He pointedly called Abbas a "man of peace."

The Holy Father has been sadly and grossly misinformed.

I don't believe for a moment that a pope is naive...The Palestinians, the children of Esau and Ishmael are not the people of God and for a pope to pretend that the muzlims want peace with Israel is a false dogma by a false religious leader...

I didn't say how many years...But since you mention it, the pope will work at bringing peace for 3 1/2 years while sitting on the throne of David in Jerusalem...He will die and come back to life...He will reign for another 3 1/2 years murdering Jews and Christian while the plagues of God are poured out upon the earth...

It sounds good, but there is a major problem with it. 2 Thess. 2:6-7 says ""And you know what restrains him now, so that in his time he will be revealed. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only he who now restrains will do so until he is taken out of the way." Basically, Anti Christ will not be revealed until after the Church (and with it the restraining ministry of the Holy Spirit) is removed from this world.

Now, I understand the Rapture can happen at any time... certainly before the date set for the meeting at the Vatican...

I am non-Catholic, expatriate American, Israeli. When we find a substitute for petroleum, or begin bulk producing environmentally clean shale oil, whichever comes first, people will no longer give a damn what the Palestinians are demanding this week.

There are Palestinian Christians.....just shy of 10% of total Mandate territory population prior to 1948 war and the aftermath when many left or were dispersed

Are they curs too?

Edomites etc?

Like the muzzies...

Just saying its not as clean and simple as Freepers pine for

As for the Pope I am convinced he’s a liberal humanist sort but some Catholics here will never admit it no matter what he says

I think the Vatican recognized their growth sector is minorities and sees how minorities worldwide vote.....for progressive politics

And the Cardinals picked a Pope to appeal to that potential for members

Two doctrinaire popes were enough to them.....in fact I’m not certain Benedicts retirement was his idea alone

This Pope is not by chance.
