I live in a blue-collar suburban neighborhood. Many residents are 50+. I'd guess you'd call them JFK democrats. No hippies here, and a gun club within 10 miles of my house. Anyway, I took a long drive yesterday (Memorial Day), and only about one house in 20 had an American flag out front. I just don't understand it.
I don’ think there has been much to be patriotic about ever since around the time the flag only had 48 stars. And those are hard to come by so I don’t wave one at all...
Your right about the war movies. For a Memorial Day weekend. The movies really sucked.HBO didn’t even have a Band of Brothers Marathon and I was looking forward to that.
Since I live in Florida, a 35 foot lightning rod in front of my house is not an option.....................
The lights sound nice! Where did you get them?
I have one all year, and have for almost 20 years, but I dont think there any law saying you have to have one flying from your home.
I noticed that as well! Mostly war comedy movies like “No Time For Sergeants” and “Onionhead” and such.
Typically during Memorial Day and 4th of July, etc... there are lots of the good old war movies: “Battle of the Bulge,” “Iwo Jima,” and “From Here To Eternity.”
It is sad that the cable/TV have also bought into PC - “can’t show Americans winning and kicking everyone’s ass” - mode!
Ours flys every day
“Since I live in Florida, a 35 foot lightning rod in front of my house is not an option....................”
Well my pole is Fiberglass so I don’t think I have that issue to worry about.
Normally Midway is on all over the place too sometimes Tora Tora Tora - lot of John Wayne black and whites ..saw NONE of that yesterday.
Actually, I bought them after the 4th of July, last year at Wal-Mart. They have the blue field with white stars just below the solar powered light head and then vertical red & white stripes below the blue field.
These are about 13” tall - they are mostly cardboard, but nice.
Thanks! I’ll keep my eye out for some.
If I fly my flag, it will be inverted.
And, to top off the changes, One of the famous donut company with stores all over will be celebrating there on form of D-Day on June 6th. The say it is national donut day. No respect. I guess I’m getting old.
Perhaps fewer people are proud of their government today...
I replaced my American flag with a Texas flag when obams was reelected.
every other house in my blue collar neighborhood had a US flag flying yesterday.
It rained off and on all weekend. So, ours never went out.
Folks!!!! Fly the flag!!!!!
It represents NOT the standing government, but the great nation as a whole...No matter what this stupid administration does or can do, it cannot take away the unwavering true history of our nation for which that flag stands....
Wave it proudly...
From one proud Vietnam veteran to all my fellow AMERICANS!!!!!!!!
