I live in a blue-collar suburban neighborhood. Many residents are 50+. I'd guess you'd call them JFK democrats. No hippies here, and a gun club within 10 miles of my house. Anyway, I took a long drive yesterday (Memorial Day), and only about one house in 20 had an American flag out front. I just don't understand it.
I have not flown the flag since 2008. I fought for that flag and don’t want it soiled by flying while we are under communist control. I remember America and this aint it.
What was the weather forecast? could they have been down due to a chance of rain? i had mine up but when the storm hit here (TX) I took it down.
Clear weather was forecast, and that's what we had all day. I should have included that in my original post.
Had my 2 little US flags out—not many in my neighborhood at all. I don’t follow strict flag etiquette as i think some of it is a bit ridiculous but I do respect the flag and the men/women who gave their lives and served in defense of the nation. As for the pols in DC these 2 flags flown were not for them — save for a few.
I flew mine. I fly it on the major holidays. I fly it as an act of defiance to the communists that have taken over our government. In my mind it is a symbol of the country not the government. I am thinking of augmenting the flag with a black arm band for Fourth of July.
Actually I’m seeing the opposite, the libs are flying the flags and claiming to be patriots. My next door neighbor has a life sized cutout of Obama right beside where she flies the US flag. With Obama’s speaking venues surrounded by the flags, it has become a symbol of the left. I fly it in Memorial Day and the 4th, but fly early patriot flags the rest if the year. For me it is a symbol of...”for which it stood.” It no longer represents me, my country or the thousands that died for it. It is a symbol of what WAS ...and we may never see it again.
My flags are always out.....I couldn’t believe where I live in “Republican” Hunterdon County NJ, there were hardly any in my development....it was a disgrace.
I thought the same thing. I put my flag out Saturday. It is still out, but I didn’t see another one on my street all weekend. Just a little strange.
You are absolutely right!!!! Just as in the pledge...
“...and to the republic for which it stands...”
This great country IS the republic...not this asinine administration that currently occupies the WH....
It is OUR country and republic...not theirs...
Fly that flag proudly in their faces...Don’t allow them the pleasure of seeing you give up.....
Old Glory (a song for Michael) by 10 Pound Test
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
We fly ours every day. Big one hanging off the big oak, small one in the garden.
” I fought for that flag and dont want it soiled by flying while we are under communist control.”
Thanks for your service and statement. If more people could accept what this country has turned in to, the sooner we could get to fixing it.
As long as Americans are under the delusion that we are a free Christian country, no real change will be accomplished.
I didn’t see many myself. I put ours out right before we left for the parade. Unfortunately the top rung broke and I had to take it down by the end of the day.
I was also surprised by the lack of flags out yesterday. I walked outside and scanned up and down my street, and couldn’t see a single one, but mine (which I fly 24/7/365 - despite the presence of that usurping Commie bastard in the White House).
Here the Florida sun’s UV would deteriorate it and A hurricane would break it off and turn it into a javelin...........
We flew Don’t Tread on Me and Stars and Bars. One other neighbor flew Old Glory. Other than that nada.
used to kick the local Boy Scout troop $50.00 to put up a flag in front of house on all the hoidays.
I changed my mind this year, after their recently allowing homos in the ranks.
they can get their donations from the queers.
My flag is put away and will not be flown again until our government stops the unbelievable disrespect of all those who gave their lives for our freedom. To remove liberty under the guise of social justice and to use our constitution as a doormat does a huge injustice to our brave heroes.
In the cemeteries.
Fly it while you can. One of Obama’s next decrees may be to change it to the gay rainbow flag.
