Obamas partied like kings on Africa vacation

Records newly obtained by officials with Judicial Watch revealed on Thursday that lodging, security and “entertainment” for the Obamas’ entourage during their trip last year to Africa cost taxpayers nearly $2.2 million.

“The Obamas clearly either do not understand the value of a dollar – or understand it all too well when someone else is picking up the tab,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.

“Keep in mind that this outrageously lavish excursion came at the very same time that the president was shutting down White House tours and blaming it on the sequester. As one congressional critic noted at the time, the White House could have 1,350 weeks of tours for the cost of the Obama family’s trip to Africa.”

Earlier documents obtained by Judicial Watch said the flight expenses for the family’s African outing totaled more than $8.1 million.

All presidents travel. All presidents take huge support staffs and multiple guests with them when they travel. Stories like this would be far more effective if we had something to compare it to. For example, George Bush did a multi-day swing through Africa late in his second term. How do the costs that his trip incurred compare to what Obama spent? If it comes out that Obama’s costs were 50% higher or 30% higher then it would prove that Obama did “party like a king”.

Not to be off topic, but your post reminds me of how to deal with reparations to black people.

Offer them income tax free status for the next 75 years. They can work as much as they want. Earn as much as they want. Spend it all as they like, or save it all as they like. Send their kids to better schools. Send their kids to college.

White people enjoyed a tremendous period of being free of this burden of personal income taxes. They should enjoy the same.

Oh yeah..........That also means no state or federal welfare either. No free healthcare.

Also, fwiw compare the itineraries (and RESULTS) of the Bush trip to that of Obama and clan. Mooch went on safari, Laura and daughters went to hospitals, schools and factories to view malaria mosquito control, AIDS and literacy projects. Drives libs speechless as they fail to recognize the admiration and respect Africa holds for President Bush and his enormous boost in funding to AIDS treatment and research
