Santa Cruz teen wins NASA video contest award

In March, while scouring through her math teacher's pile of projects, Anna Olson was attracted to the sciences section, and discovered NASA's 2014 educational "REEL Science Communications" video contest. In a two-week period, Olson pulled together two different contest entries, with a little help from dad and movie producer Gregory T. Olson's green screen, brother Geoffrey Olson's guitar-strumming skills and fact-checking by older brother Alec Olson, who works in a lab at UC Davis.

The Pacific Collegiate School student reviewed her video entries, posted on YouTube during an interview at her school. She pointed out that her winning entry had a special touch, her own "brand." Writing rhyming lyrics about global warming facts, she said, was easier said than done.

"Climate change affects the world, every boy and girl," Olson sings over changing graphics in her video. "Volcanoes, fires and factories too, dust and cars and stuff we use, all contribute to global warming, ice caps melting and not reforming."

The contest, in its second year, asks high school students from the ages of 13 to 18 to create two-minute educational earth sciences videos designed to engage middle school students, NASA officials said. This year, there were 22 entrants, including Olson's.

Congratulations to Anna for winning this award. But several things really bug me about this.

First, NASA is giving awards to short film makers about "science" so they can better connect with young kids who "consume 10 hours of media per day." (that's just wrong by itself, but that's another topic). What happened to tough academic awards for kids who actually perform real science and have scientific career potential? Young Ms. Olson received a NASA award for singing and songwriting their propaganda.

Second, NASA employs the extremely corrupt and crooked James Hansen to propagandize Americans about the global warming hoax. It really bugs me they are now using contests and our tax money to further ensnare gullible young American children into the hoax and then get them to proselytize NASA's corrupt message.

Third, her thesis necessarily falls perfectly in line with the NASA viewpoint. She's now on the global warming / climate catastrophe gravy train, just like any other crooked "scientist" in a government lab or university. If you're paid by the government to get the "right" conclusion, that is the only conclusion you will ever reach. She's another young adult lost to the radical leftist views promulgated by our very government.

By the way, her winning entry is titled "Melting Ice Caps," a topic many us know a lot about. (surprise, surprise! just bowl me over with a feather) She'll have a great shot at working on Al Gore's next award winning movie.

See all the things you can do with NASA’s budget if you don’t have to worry about putting things into space?!

Another young skull full of mush it looks like. Too bad these young kids have to learn the wrong ideas from the wrong people.

One of the points made in a presentation about how counterintelligence programs are executed, was to have a contest in which the score in the contest indicates how deeply subscribed to the counterintelligence goals the various contestants are. Only the true believers will win, therefore, everyone wants to out-true-believe everyone else, if the counterintelligence program is to be the most successful. The more Kool-Aid you drink, the better you will do.

NASA - "The Right LEFT Stuff"

They can't put anyone in space on their own, their supporters don't even know if we landed on Mars or the moon, and somewhere in all this is the dire need to make a bunch of 4th century savage Muslims feel good about their contributions to space and earth sciences.

NASA can suck it.

If this is what NASA has been reduced to, dismantle it completely and immediately.

My reaction, too. "My God, NASA has come to this???" Making kids shill their stinking propaganda?
