Rice fires back on Bergdahl criticism (Hussein's Constitutional responsibilities)
The Hill ^ | 6/01/14 | Kevin Cirilli

U.S. National Security Adviser Susan Rice pushed back on Sunday against GOP claims that the administration negotiated with terrorists by transferring five Taliban prisoners in Guantanamo Bay to Qatar in exchange for the release of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl on Saturday.

"I wouldn't put it that way," Rice said on CNN's "State of the Union" when asked if the exchange means that U.S. officials can no longer say they don't negotiate with terrorists.

"Why didn't you notify Congress?" Crowley asked, referencing the law that requires the president to alert Congress in 30 days before transferring any prisoners from Guantanamo Bay.

Rice said that Bergdahl's health was "growing more fragile" and that "we were very concerned that time was not something that we could play with."

"The Department of Defense consulted with the Department of Justice and given the acute urgency of the health condition of Sgt. Bergdahl and given the president's Constitutional responsibilities, it was determined that it was necessary and appropriate not to adhere to the 30-day notification requirements because it would have potentially meant that the opportunity to get Sgt. Bergdahl would have been lost," Rice said.

Rice said the administration had previously notified members of Congress about the potential for such an exchange.

"We had briefed Congress in the past about this potential," Rice said.

"In the past," Crowley interrupted. "But when you knew that you were going [to act]?"

"When the deal was done and Sgt. Bergdahl was in U.S. custody was when we began making notifications to Congress."

"But the deal had already been made and the prisoners from Guantanamo Bay were already en route to the plane to go to Qatar?" Crowley asked.

"No, actually Congress began to be notified when Sgt. Bergdahl was in American hands which was actually before the prisoners had left," Rice said.

Ergo, his captors have more faith in Obama than the US Congress and they don’t mind giving up their collateral ransom based purely on his word. They must recognize his track record with enemies of the US is far more trusting than with his obedience to the Constitution.

Oh come on. We already know the B*tch lies. Look at Benghazi. Any credibility given to this woman is laughable. She is the Jon Lovitz character in drag. That’s the ticket. When news organizations have her on their shows, it is like “look at us we are nimrods”.

If the prisoners health was fragile and he was going to possibly die, why in the sam-heck would you give up 5 of the enemies top field commanders ? These people are literally criminally insane.

Remember Hussein lies. His regime lies. Do not react as if anything they say is true.

Yes, he is. This is so deliberate. So they didn’t know where he was but new about his health situation, apparently not good but good enough for him to walk out on his own. We get an AWOL soldier in exchange for 5 Taliban from Gitmo, all so Obama can say, “we never leave anybody on the battlefield” (barf) and give his buddies what they want.

There’s still the little issue of the drone that magically landed intact in Iran, that was never looked into appropriately. It was a gift. I can’t stand these people.

Susan Rice: “...health was “growing more fragile”...” smells like total, unmitigated, bald-faced BS.

Today’s McClatchy-Tribune article by David S. Cloud noted “...the 28-year-old American was in good condition and able to walk.” Published in the Spokane Spokesman-Review this morning - quote from the continued article on page A9. But even later in the same article, Cloud notes a January video purporting to raise concerns about the deserter’s health. Which is it, Mr. Cloud?

One of the the two is lying. This is not Schrodinger’s cat in the box, here.

And Rice has a history of being the go-to liar for the regime on the Sunday shows. Benghazi, anyone?
