Tea party heavyweight Sen. Ted Cruz said that he believes former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton purposely prevented the public release of details pertaining to the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.
“What I think is that she has deliberately stonewalled,” Cruz said in an interview with George Stephanopoulos on “This Week.”
“The American people deserve the truth; our men and women in harm’s way deserve the truth,” the Texas Republican added.
Although Cruz did not directly say that he believes Clinton’s handling of Benghazi should disqualify her from running for president, he had a quick response to Stephanopoulos when asked for the case against a Hillary Clinton presidency.
The senator pointedly tied Clinton to what he said were the failures of the Obama administration, referring to an “Obama-Clinton” foreign policy and saying that the low labor-force participation rate under Obama is a reason not to vote for Hillary.
“Her policies, domestically and internationally, haven’t worked,” he said. “Domestically the Obama economic agenda is a disaster; we’ve got the lowest labor force participation since 1978; millions of hardworking Americans, their lives have gotten harder.”
Cruz argued that “internationally, the Obama-Clinton foreign policy is a disaster… Every region of the world has gotten worse; America has weakened, our enemies have been strengthened.”
Cruz, however, was very optimistic about GOP prospects in this year’s midterm elections.
“I think 2014 is going to be a fantastic year for Republicans,” he said. “I think we’re likely to retake the Senate.”
Venturing a 2016 prediction, Cruz told Stephanopoulos that he believes the GOP streak will extend past the midterms.
“I think 2016 is going to be a very strong year for Republicans,” the senator said.

Hillary Clinton has probably dug out her address book full of the thugs she used to threaten and intimidate women her husband assaulted and is looking at how she can silence Cruz, Gowdy, Lee and others.
It's too bad that the Dems have to suck so bad for the Reps to do well.
We need strong leaders like Cruz who will actively oppose the liberal agenda instead of RINOs like Christy and Jeb Bush who will further weaken the country with socialism lite.
Yup.
It is not really deliberate, when Herself, Madame Benghazi, the Cold & Joyless, goes into stonewall mode. It is purely reflexive, like an armadillo rolling up into a ball when it is startled in any way.
Of course, when an armadillo does this while crossing a road and a car is approaching, it does not go so well for the armadillo. As the creature rolls up tightly, it also bounces upward, striking the undercarriage of the vehicle traveling at perhaps 50-60 mph, and kind of gets blitzed.
Herself goes into stonewall mode when most times, the truth spoken immediately would serve her so much better. Unfortunately, this has not happened in just such circumstances where Herself emulates the unlucky armadillo.
Love to see it, though. Some train wrecks are worth watching.
Even if a train or two gets wasted in the process.
Rather than the rest of the herd who only produce long-winded mealy-mouth wimp-out statements (if they make any statement at all!) which say nothing.
I’ve been waiting for the day too. You know, if I did one billionth the stuff she has, I’d be in serious trouble.
Amen BOT ! AMEN !
The question so many people here holler about is ... would it be better to elect the dem over the rino if there is no strong opposer in the race?
Part of me says elect the dem - I want to delete the rinos. Part of me says elect the rino - just for the senate majority.
I admit that depending on the specifics, I may choose either. EG in this year's senate race, I'm closer to opting to get the majority. But if that weren't at stake, I'd dump the rino for the dem i think
Of two evils, choose neither - vote Constitution Party.
If a RINO and a Constitution Party candidate were polling even a few days before the election, I'd vote for the Constitution Party candidate, no question. However...
