Dan Marino has sued the NFL, claiming that playing professional football left him suffering from concussion-related injuries, Nathan Fenno reports for the Los Angeles Times.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court in Philadelphia last week, according to the Times. Fourteen other players joined Marino in the suit.

Reading the comments; it looks like the lesser of two evils people are discussing; the NFL or Marino.
You do forget they are being forced to do this. Play games for money, it is a terrible life for some.

I remember being told by someone who had worked on Marino’s house that Marino was a bit of an ahole to the workers being a real Diva. So Chutzpah would be par for the course.

The NFL can blackball commentators from the networks. Networks who don’t play ball may find their contracts not renewed.
It is always enjoyable to read the fevered ravings of people who think that there is injury that can't be made right by an over-the-top lawsuit.

Being a little Polyannish, aren't we? We are talking about the NFL here. These guys have lived and breathed football at least since high school - they are well aware of the risks of playing the game and what goes on in college and professional football...on and off the field.
It's a violent sport; everyone knows it. Many of these players are ‘juiced up’ as well. Ever seen these guys at close range? They're absolute monsters, to say the least.
He assumed the risk when he started playing. I don't think he has a case.
Yep. Between the Dolphins’ handwringing over the Incognito thing, Michael Sam, LeBron James getting a free wrong-way escort via cops to a Jay-Z concert, Dwyane Wade fundraising for Obama, the NBA doing a witch hunt on Sterling (who is a sleaze), the entire “professional” sports industry has disgusted me.
NASCAR has turned me off, too.
I still watch baseball—it hasn’t gone off the deep end too much.
He’s trying to blame his poor analyses, substandard performances and missed predictions at the CBS NFL Today Show on some mystery concussions he supposedly received on the field.
Then as occam wrote, he's claiming concussion in order to keep his wife from cleaning him out.
Screw these man/child over-paid whiners. They volunteer to take risks in a highly dangerous sport. Their contracts are very explicit about the risks. Play the game, which is just game and not brain surgery and get the big bucks. Tough sh*t if you get injured. No one forced you to play.
I didn’t say the case has any merit, or that I’d ever side with an NFL player if I were on a jury in a civil court case. I just pointed out the basis for Marino’s lawsuit without knowing anything more about the facts behind the case.
