More curious to me is how PFC (E-3) Bergdahl left his post, was gone for five years and became Sgt. (E-5) Bergdahl when he was released from whatever confinement he experienced.

When you are considered a POW you are automatically promoted whenever you become elegible upon length of service. This happened in Vietnam, they all were promoted, some to flag rank, I believe.

I asked Kevin Carns from HROC, I'm sure you know him, he's a former Army Paratrooper about this. It is military policy.
So is the imprisonment and or execution of deserters. Kevin is disgusted with all of this.
