Bergdahl’s Idaho Hometown Cancels Homecoming Celebration Amidst Backlash

A rally in U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl’s Idaho hometown celebrating his release after nearly five years of captivity has been canceled amid growing questions about the circumstances of the soldier’s capture.

The joy over Bergdahl’s return among residents of the small mountain community of Hailey, Idaho has been dampened by claims that he abandoned his post. Some have also claimed that the subsequent search for Bergdahl cost the lives of up to six soldiers, Reuters reports.

Hailey’s city administrator, Heather Dawson said town officials called off the June 28 rally at the request of organizers. The town “will be unable to safely manage the number of people expected,” Dawson told Reuters.

I’m really surprised. There’s nothing like a parade for a traitor that deserted to the enemy.

Americans love a loser.

Why, it was just a couple of hours ago that Time was gleefully reporting that the celebration was a "go" despite the "anger from some."

Here's the link.

“Time” put up a yeoman effort to prop up this pasty-faced traitor.

Not even they can “polish a turd”.

Those ba$tard military up the chain of command had better pay a price for trying to bury this.

Lt Cols West and Ollie North are all over the brass, and will kick their azz if not enough is done.

Yeah, I'm sure Time only ran their story as an "in your face" gesture.

Isn't that a quote from Gen. Geo Patten?

Should have held the celebration then showed him up for the deserter is his. Total public humiliation. On national TV. Best idea is he gets blind sided in thinking everyone in town believes he’s a hero .... then the news hits while everyone there is watching and listening.

This is good. It’s a rebuke to the chief who went to bat for a traitor.

Bergdahl deserted in order to teach the Taliban how to make more effective IEDs. Soon after he deserted, the Taliban were making IEDs that were consistently blowing up right under vehicles.

After Bergdahl disappeared, “IEDs started going off directly under the trucks. They were getting perfect hits every time.”

He's more than a deserter. He's an enemy combatant. Bergdahl should be shipped straight to GITMO.

Good question. If he affirmatively renounced his citizenship and joined the armed forces of another nation (or in this case of the Taliban), seems to me he is no longer a citizen of the United States of America by his own volition. How could he be a traitor if he’s not a citizen?
Now, is he a US-held POW or an otherwise sufficiently qualified POS to go to Gitmo?

That would be too good for him. I’ve been in disagreement with nearly everything this administration has “pulled off” but this takes the cake. If this doesn’t piss you of as a freedom loving American than I don’t know what to say. The lives, the money , the resources to capture these terrorists then to let them walk for an American hating traitor. Stunning..
