Progressive hero Noam Chomsky is terrified of the surveillance state that has developed during the tenure of President Barack Obama, calling it a grave threat to our fundamental civil liberties.
In a column published Monday, Chomsky writes that the documents revealed to the public by Edward Snowden show a system that is flagrantly violating the principles of the Constitution.
It is of no slight import that the project is being executed in one of the freest countries in the world, and in radical violation of the U.S. Constitutions Bill of Rights, which protects citizens from unreasonable searches and seizures, and guarantees the privacy of their persons, houses, papers and effects, Chomsky said.
Much as government lawyers may try, there is no way to reconcile these principles with the assault on the population revealed in the Snowden documents.

Because you're about to be audited.
Welcome to the party, commie.
....from a fool who’s spent his life asleep?
Wow! Mixed feelings Alert!!! Chomsky worried about Zero and the 0bamunists, and their intrusion into the lives of the people...
Remain calm and stay indorrs. Flying Pigs will pass overhead any minute now...
>>Actually George Orwell did envision it all and its totality. Orwell did not know computer mining of data. Orwell did know the totalitarian state.
Yes, and it almost killed him. He fought with the Anarchists in the Spanish Civil War, and they were purged by their “allies”, the Communists. He barely made it out of Spain alive, and ultimately not due to the Nationalists under Franco.
Homage to Catalonia tells of his time in the Spanish Civil War and is a good, quick read, well worth it. His experience there was very informative to his later anti-Totalitarian fiction.
Chomsky was a chumpsky for failing to see that Obama wanted to control us as much as possible.
Obviously, this old Leftist is also a racist. How will the NY Times and Huffington Post spin this?
Agreed. This is so illogical coming from someone that never respected the Constitution and Bill of Rights as applied to the nation and citizenry save criminals. He thought he could get the uber state and keep the 4th Amendment?
George Orwell was a socialist who got a clue. Maybe?
Birds of a feather...
Yet, how come after lifetimes of being commie infiltrators in our institutes of higher socialistic learning they have never discovered that the natural progression of their alien ideologies is to fascism, repression, suppression, and yes, to spying, wuretapping, surveillance, bugging, watching, informing and shadowing.
In short, a police state.
How stupidly blind can they be!!!
There's nothing like educated fools...and our education system is chock full of them. They care little what WE think, they know we're not about to change our thinking at our ages. The commies ALWAYS go after the malleable minds of the youth...and Chomsky, a long-time left-wing radical activist, has been in hot pursuit of young minds after years at MIT and other educational institutions.
What is he? A brilliant professor of linguistics.....or an ideological fool, a Pied Piper and a subversive?
Leni
They got what they voted for, TWICE, and we’re all paying for it.
What would be really nice would be if people like the Koch brothers would start funding progressive candidates who would attack and undermine the Democrats from the Left, like Nader did to Gore. These days the “libertarian” candidates are inevitably the ones attacking and undermining the Republicans/Conservatives.
Well, a stopped clock is right twice a day.
That just makes too much sense. Heh. The ‘risk of discovery’ would elicit unending howels/stories from the corru+pt, criminal DBM libtards, unlike when (leftist icon) Nader was exposed, which they effectively buried on page D17. Plus, I don’t think so many LIVs would even know what to make of it. And we are now truly, sadly a Nation of LIVs.
Let me see if I’ve got this straight: The America Chomsky has been saying for years is totalitarian, evil, malicious and beyond redemption is being ruined by Obama? You’d think he’d be doing the “Palestinian World Trade Center Attack” street dance!
