I COULD see teen sex being discouraged with a few swats of the rattan -- on BOTH parties.

I'd submit that most of those calling for more severe punishment haven't had sex for over 15 years, let alone remember what being a teenager in love (or lust) was like.
I come to FreeRepublic to read interesting news items that often get overlooked elsewhere, but the "get-off-my-lawn old fart brigades" are almost more than I can take. I used to laugh when lefties accused conservatives of being like the Taliban. It's getting harder to laugh.
I believe we have laws that require prison and registering as a sex offender....in certain cases of rape, yes there have been death penalties.... depending on the circumstances, the jury or the judge.
We all feel strongly about this issue.
Children as young as 8 years old are having sex in the good ol’ Godless USA. In fact, they’re encouraged to do so by the entertainment media and Kinsey/Sanger inspired “sex education”.
As long as none of the participants is more than 18, while any of the others is younger than 18, any kind of consentual sex between two or more of young teens and pre-teens is just ducky, according to the sex ed mavens and the Planned Parenthood “counselors”.
This weirdness about all sex under 18 being “rape” is an insanity that emerged just recently.
My grandmother was 15 when she married, my wife was 17 when we married when I was in the Army during the Vietnam war, and in 1960 the median age for first marriage was 20, the “median”, same in the 1950s.
Those battle hardened and worldly warriors from WWII were marrying plenty of teen girls, and I wouldn’t want to guess the percentages of their wives being virgins on their marriage day.
We all know the ideals that we seek, the values we want to instill, the moral culture we want, the return of the values to past America, but this twisted and sick overreaction of the last 20 years is fringe like, and isn’t a return to normality but in it’s own way is as twisted as other things today, it is overlooking normalcy as an overreaction to cultural victories of the left, but it also reflects much of the left and feminism and ignores nature and science and our own families and even our own dating experiences and other’s experiences that we frequently saw among our high school peers.
These days many are upset if all girls aren’t sluts and rutting by 15.

Back in the 1960’s, in my 7th grade class I knew of a girl in my class having regular sex with a boy in my class. This is nothing new.

We could reduce these problems by going back to having girls being married young, to somewhat-older (20’s) men who could support a family, as long as the girl’s father approved of the suitor.

Does this include the case where it's an 18 year old woman having sex with a 17 year old boy? How long a term of imprisonment? Months? Years?
How big an age difference before execution is on the table?
