A pair of new polls shows state Sen. Chris McDaniel (R-MS) leading Sen. Thad Cochran (R-MS) in the runoff of the Republican primary for United States Senate.

A poll from the Republican-leaning National Strategic firm found McDaniel leading Cochran 52.49 percent to Cochran with 45.93 percent of likely Republican runoff voters. The poll also found that 40 percent of those surveyed said Cochran should step aside rather than continue to run in the runoff.

The poll was conducted on June 5 (two days after the primary) among 442 respondents. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.66 percentage points.

Meanwhile another poll by the Democratic-leaning Chism Strategies found McDaniel leading Cochran 50.6 percent to 47.6 percent among those surveyed. An earlier Chism poll also found McDaniel just barely leading Cochran.

The new Chism poll was conducted among 832 voters who participated in the 2008, 2010, and 2012 GOP primaries. It had a margin of error of plus or minus 3. 3 percentage points.

The runoff is on June 23.

“I haven’t pinged this much since Ernest Lee Hargon went on his killing spree.”

Well, I’m partly responsible for that, haha. I’ve been posting whatever I could find on this race for some time now.

Hahaha. The Fox morons on the WSJ editorial report (nerd central) were saying how McDaniel puts the Republican senate takeover chances in jeopardy, and how Travis Childers would defeat him, so primary voters would favor Cochran.

NO DICE, LOSERS!

“Hahaha. The Fox morons on the WSJ editorial report (nerd central) were saying how McDaniel puts the Republican senate takeover chances in jeopardy”

Bet they didn’t say that when John Warner endorsed Mark Warner in Virginia. Or when Richard Lugar endorsed Michelle Nunn in Georgia!

But when a conservative might get into the senate: “Oh, the horror!! He’s gonna bring us all down!!”

Cochran is just a prop for Boss Hogg Haley Barbour.
Cochran is AWOL from his own campaign.

And I'm glad the polls are ignoring them otherwise they might wake up and go to the polls.

The more you stir up rats nests, the more trouble they cause.

There was an editorial in the weekend edition of The Wall Street Journal making that argument--that McDaniel is a gaffe-prone candidate who is likely to say something stupid, and that the Democrats will use whatever he says against other Republican candidates.

We might as well just go ahead and surrender now...

Hinds County, MS, is a rat-haven. They can find all the votes they “need” there.

At some point Cochran has to start running for senate. He has been
AWOL in his own campaign. Boss Hogg Haley Barbour has been
playing the role of senate candidate, not Cochran. Boss Hogg is just
using Cochran as a prop.
