Simcoe is a power mad SOB but is putting up a front to keep him from suspicion from the crown.

Fascinating character.
Fascinating life.

Loved the scene with the sodomite. Angus Macfadyen was a perfect casting choice.

I have read that Rogers was interested in joining the Americans in the Revolution, but Washington feared he may be a spy so would not allow him to enter the camp.

Rogers managed to get himself charged with treason by both sides over the years.

Whenever Obama, Shumer, Feinstein or any one of the countless pinhead liberal democrats or GOP-e uses the words, “gun control’, what they really mean is firearms confiscation.
This is another way they try to manipulate the language. So let’s call them on it.
When they use the term, gun control, make them admit that what they really mean is that they want to confiscate firearms, and in derogation of the 2nd amendment—not engage in some hypothetical, prophylactic, euphemistic exercise of “controlling guns.”
Gun control is lefty mealy-mouthing for firearms confiscation.

That’s a fairly old video that I have seen before. I don’t know how many times I have to say this but not all guns are banned in Australia. Automatics such as assault rifles and most forms of semi-automatics are banned. Guns must be stored in a proper gun safe and shooters should either be a member of a gun club or a farmer or someone who requires a gun to make a living. So the ban is far from total. Although quite draconian. There certainly has been an increase in gun crime although I don’t know where they get those numbers from. Most of the increase has been among bikie gangs and if they want to kill each other off good luck to them. Guns were never that prevalent in Australian Society. Anyone I know who had one would occasionally go out Roo or goat or feral pig shooting. These people still do that. The impression given that Australians have become a lot of sheeple may be partly true of inner city metrosexuals or leftie voters - you have them there too - but I would say that the Aussies I know are more fiercely independent than they have ever been!

TURN is excellent. I got goose bumps when George Washington was finally shown.

Yay! More Turn discussions! Excellent series. Have enjoyed every episode. It ended too soon.

I, too, got goose bumps when George Washington made his appearance.

We drank a toast to Washington and Talmadge at Fraunces Tavern in NYC, earlier this year. To stand in the same building where Washington said his farewells to his Continental Army was pretty emotional.

Not going to happen here. I have no doubt they will try.

If anything passes, it’ll be war.

“Three years after Australia’s controversial ban was implemented, when 643,000 weapons had been surrendered, Inspector John McCoomb, the head of the state of Queensland’s Weapons Licensing Branch, told The Sunday Mail, “About 800,000 (semi-automatic and automatic) SKK and SKS weapons came in from China back in the 1980s as part of a trade deal between the Australian and Chinese governments. And it was estimated that there were 1.2 million semi-automatic Ruger 10/22s in the country. That’s about 2 million firearms of just two types in the country.

Do the math. Two million illegal firearms of just two types, and only 643,000 guns of all types were surrendered …

The Australian Shooters Journal did its own math in a 1997 article on the “gun buyback.” Researchers for the publication pointed out that the Australian government’s own low-ball, pre-ban estimate of the number of prohibited weapons in the country yielded a compliance rate of 19 percent.

But maybe success is in the eye of the beholder. After the expected mountains of surrendered weapons failed to manifest themselves, then-Australian Attorney General Darryl Williams’s office revised its estimate of total firearms in the country to a number lower than its pre-ban estimate of prohibited firearms, and declared victory.

Inspector McCoomb, like the Australian Shooters Journal, concluded the ban `has failed.’”

Yeah - also if someone wanted to like, you know, bury a rifle, best do it vertically not horizontal where the footprint is larger.

I don’t think so. Mullah Baraq’s own actions...releasing criminals out of prisons, allowing our borders to overrun and our country invaded, more and more Americans will begin to understand the necessity of arming themselves. On the other hand, if it’s his intention to force the citizens into armed insurrection, then so be it.

Just an excellent series.

I am enjoying Fargo as well, even though that is fantasy.

Turn and the secret Culper 6 is fascinating to this day in as much as we have never found out who the 6th member was.
