Too bad. The WSJ actually supported him in their editorial this morning.

That’s the punishment for those impudent tea partiers—just as bad a ML as Cantor had been.

Are all of our House Conservatives that feckless and gutless? Nobody wants to lead, despite their old campaign ads and promises about being “leaders” in Congress?

He was the only conservative who was possible. So, the bottom line is, the new person will be equal or worse than Cantor?

Evidently the Republicans prefer “moderate” leadership.

The only two conservatives that have held leadership positions in the last twenty years (Newt and Tom DeLay) were kicked to the curb by their colleagues.

Politics is not a chest thumping game. Nothing gets done without a majority vote. Hensarling counted votes, and was wise enough to drop out before losing. May be he will run for Speaker if Boner resigns or is pushed out.

So in the meantime, we get stuck with another squishy Majority Leader (McCarthy or Sessions) because none of the other House Conservatives have the balls to go after the job?

They're hypocrites then.

After following politics for 5 decades, I have concluded that politicians and hypocrisy are joined at the hips. Only thing which changes is levels of hypocrisy. This is not because they are evil people. It is simply doing and saying whatever it takes to win majority votes, only way they can survive.

For example take the 2 recent filibusters in senate by Cruz and Paul. Both produced no results because they did not have the votes in both the house and senate. Sure If Hensarling ran for SML we would feel good for a while until he loses for lack of votes.

I think he is wise to not chalk up a loss on his resume. You can not win every time in politics. But that is no reason to give up fighting. If we give up there will be zero wins.
