This race was looking problematic last month. Mark Pryor was on the attack and the lib super-pacs were running lots of ads. But now it seems to have stabilized, perhaps the Bowe Bergdahl controversy is helping Tom Cotton’s campaign. The fundamentals have favored Cotton all along and if he can avoid distraction and keep the race focused on Obama and Pryor’s support for him, it should work out. I’m starting to breathe easier here now.
The problem is that Pryor, like Lamar in my state, is a name voters know because of his daddy. That makes them lean towards him.

The only reason for supporting Clinton was because he was from Arkansas (which didn’t make a damn to me) he is still a sorry excuse for a ‘leader’ of anything. That goes double for his wife!

I joked with my full blown red neck brother-in-law in 2008 that as a red neck he was torn between a women (Hillary) or an “n” (his words, not mine) in Obama.
The state goes back on forth with Congressional reps and Senators but stick mainly with Dem govs. Huckabee was an anomaly.
Where do you live? My wife grew up in Hazen and I lived in Booneville from 1970 until I went to the UofA and then moved to Texas in 1984.
Some of the anti-Cotton ads have been half truths and innuendoes or condescending remarks.
Cotton got money from Wall Street types! [Others call it ‘salary’.]
Cotton thinks he is elite because of his military service.
Cotton went to Haaaaaavard. [Tone of jealousy.]
The current Gov is Dem and the Dem (Ross) running against Hutchinson has a slight lead.
At the legislative level, since Pryor’s last election:
3 or 4 House districts went R. The 3rd District was already R. The other Senator (Lincoln - Dem) lost her bid for reelection.
Hutchinson’s problem is that he keeps running for something. He is a professional politician.

They keep wanting to deny guns to mentally ill people. Well, when they take your guns, they should cancel your voter registration as well. Incompetent old folks should not have a say in how things go, because they are not going to be around much longer and should not be able to influence government on their way “out.”
I stress the word “incompetent,” because older voters who are still in possession of their faculties generally make good electoral decisions.

Guess I should pay more attention since it’s on the 90’s anymore. I didn’t realize how many counties McCain got in 2008 or Romney in 2012. At least in presidential years.
Are all the Dems dying off? Besides Pulaski and Jefferson counties all the rest border the Mississippi river.
Who did Pryor beat for this seat? I don’t remember.

Arkansas has four congressional districts. There were 5th, 6th, 7th, and at-large districts but they were eliminated in 1963, 1963, 1953, and 1885 respectively. U.S. House of Representatives:
Arkansas’s 1st congressional district includes the Crowley’s Ridge region and most of the Arkansas Delta – Rep. Rick Crawford (R).
Arkansas’s 2nd congressional district covers the region generally called Central Arkansas, including Little Rock – Rep. Tim Griffin (R).
Arkansas’s 3rd congressional district covers northwest Arkansas, including the Fayetteville–Springdale–Rogers Metropolitan Area and Fort Smith metropolitan area – Rep. Steve Womack (R)
Arkansas’s 4th congressional district covers South Arkansas and the Ouachita Mountains – Rep. Tom Cotton (R).
I lived in the 3rd district. John Paul Hammerschmidt was my representative. He nominated me for the Naval Academy in 1977. I didn’t get selected so went to Fayetteville.
Funny, and true, story: In 1994, Pryor ran for Arkansas Attorney General. His opponent, Winston Bryant said, “If it wasn’t for his daddy, he’d be working at Taco Bell.
Now, every chance I get I refer to him as Mark Pryor (D-Taco Bell)!
And it’s true!
I was surprised to see the race tighten last month, but I just can’t see Pryor Jr. winning.
Asa H also leads the race for Governor in the last poll I saw.
