‘Taking a nap’: Obama team accused of underestimating Iraq unrest
Fox News ^ | June 12, 2014

The Obama administration’s apparent miscalculation of the threat posed by Al Qaeda-aligned militants in Iraq drew severe criticism Thursday from top Republican lawmakers, who accused President Obama and his national security team of “taking a nap,” warning “the next 9/11 is in the making.”

Amid criticism from lawmakers, the White House appeared to open the door to the possibility of U.S. airstrikes, but stressed that sending American ground troops is not an option.

“We are not contemplating ground troops,” Press Secretary Jay Carney said. “We are assessing what we can provide additionally.”

The administration once again appears to have been caught off guard by an explosion of violence in a country U.S. forces helped liberate from a dictator. Al Qaeda-aligned Sunni militants were advancing south and threatening to move on Baghdad on Thursday after overrunning the northern Iraq cities of Mosul and Tikrit—with Iraqi government forces in rapid retreat. …

"As recently as Monday, State Department spokeswoman Marie Harf said of the situation in northern Iraq, "I don't get the sense that they're gaining a lot of territory."

Such blinding brilliance. Where do we get such people? Why are we even allowed to live on the same planet with them?

Even a stopped clock is right twice a day. However the Muslim-Brotherhood-advised president Barack Obama has a worse record than a stopped clock when it comes to his sworn executive branch of government duties to protect the U.S., its Constitution, its laws, and the cause of freedom. Is he high as a kite or lazy as a sloth or just continuing his public announcements that he would “fundamentally change the U.S.” into a basket case?

This is what voting “present” looks like in international geopolitics.

Underestimating? Well, maybe in terms of “going better than expected.” Handing yet another ME country over to hard line Islamists is the Obama’s goal.

The war on terror will never be over until Christ comes, it is a religious war and Bible predicted. This was begun as a sibling rivalry between Ishmael (ancestor of Mohammed) and Isaac (Father of 12 Tribes of Israel) and it’s about the Inheritance which is the Land of Israel (Jerusalem).

Bush was right about WMD which most went over border to Syria during six months prior to our attack on Iraq, and they knew we were coming. The 550 metric tons of yellow cake were found and sold to a Canadian company in secrecy during the War.
I gave wrong link on last comment this is clearer info:

This shows how incompetent Obama has been in NOT protecting the progress the USA made during the Iraq war, and the loss of Patriot lives trying to liberate Iraq as a democracy. Keeping our gains in Iraq could have helped the Middle East find a measure of peace from such extremists as ISIS.

I wish I knew and that they would get on with it....it’s time to get these people out of office. However with the NWO, I guess there are a lot of Republicans already on board with the new global government idea and if it does not happen asap, Americans are going to be unable to recover from what is coming in 2016.

I have mixed feelings about the whole thing. Could we have done more? Sure. But ultimately, its up the Iraqis to defend their society. If they choose not to do that, then its on them. Given the piss poor performance of their “Army”, I don’t think we should waste one more American life on Iraq.

I also think the people in Central/Northern Iraq will get tired of Sharia law pretty fast. As a result, they will take back most of their region within a year. After that, its an Iraq partitioned four ways: Kurds, Secular Sunnis, Al Qaeda, and Shites (backed by Iran).

Instead of invading, next time we should do all we can to isolate and generally make life miserable for those in areas given over to terrorism.

What is “their society”? It’s Islamic, and as such does not give them an identity apart from that. The only alternative they have known is Arab national socialism (not a typo).

These are the fruits of Obama’s running away. If he dares to compare himself to George Washington (as he did with the Bergdahl swap of all things), then he seems to have forgotten that Washington said that the USA should be “at all times ready for war” against its enemies.

It is clearly a matter of laziness. Just the simple act of assessing unrest in Iraq requires more work than Obama is willing to invest.

"These are the fruits of Obama's running away"

Obama followed Bush's troop withdrawal timetable, which was written into the SOFA, which was a legal and binding agreement, which Bush signed, which could be changed only by the Iraqi govt.

So then you can say that Obama should have negotiated with the Iraq govt a second SOFA that modified the withdrawal timetable to delay it or leave a residual force in Iraq on a semi-permanent basis.

Those negotiations went nowhere because the Iraqi govt insisted on a pre-condition in which any residual American force in Iraq would be subject to Iraqi law. Obama said no to that, so all US troops left.

The Iraqi govt took this position because the Blackwater employees, who the Iraqi govt wanted to prosecute in Iraq for their mis-deeds, would instead be tried in a US court but were never indicted. And as you may be aware, they are still trying to prosecute the Blackwater employees.

This is the third time it has become an issue. First, at the time. Second, during the 2012 campaign and you can find the YouTube video of Obama and Romney debating the issue.
