Most conservatives aren't willing to make the compromises that would be necessary to hold a leadership position.

For instance:

Hensarling – followed by former Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Jordan – received what the conservative lawmaker described as a “full court press” as colleagues pleaded with him to run.

In conversations with allies, Hensarling cited his young children – he's known for being conscientious about setting aside time with the family – in declining to run.

RE :”Most conservatives aren't willing to make the compromises that would be necessary to hold a leadership position.”

Of course if they took over that wouldn't be the issue,

Plus, that's (above) not a good argument for doing nothing.

One could make the same exact case about being POTUS.

If so, here's a case of a good man not seeing the forest for the trees. I don't mean to beat on Hensarling for making such a choice but by leaving the RINOs in place what kind of country is he going to leave to the kids he loves?

Well, maybe Hensarling should just stay home, curl up with his kids, listen to the country collapsing around him and tell them about how the US used to be. This episode shows how few in Congress are really willing to fight the good fight. The solution for what is killing the country is unlikely to ever come from a Congress that has grown too comfortable with speachifying and being part of the elite who grow fat on the past wealth of the US built by people who were giants compared to the termites of today.
