After weeks of speculation that John Boehner won't a third term as House speaker following the November elections, the betting on Capitol Hill is now that the Ohio Republican will seek to retain the speaker's gavel after all.
One source close to Boehner who requested anonymity told Newsmax, "I'm told that Boehner gave an unequivocal commitment to remain where he is. So the races are for No. 2 and No. 3 now, for the next two years." The source referred to the current contests for majority leader and majority whip, to be decided by House Republicans June 19.
It is precisely this upheaval in the House Republican hierarchy, sparked by the resignation Wednesday of Rep. Eric Cantor of Virginia as majority leader, that has reportedly convinced Boehner to run again for speaker, the same source said.
"I think he will run again," said veteran GOP consultant Chip Saltsman, former top aide to Rep. Chuck Fleischmann of Tennessee and manager of Mike Huckabees 2008 presidential campaign, "because he knows how important the continuity of the [Republican] conference is, as the new leadership team has its chance."
Boehner is also reportedly now convinced Republicans will win a majority in the Senate this year, permitting Congress to pass legislation that the President Barack Obama must veto.
With the Republican-run House often passing measures only to have them buried in the other chamber by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Boehner and his colleagues have been made to appear in the press as trying to govern with one half of one of the three branches of government.

I think that she is seen as a very effective speaker, not that I agree with anything that she passed.
I’ve begged my Pubbie Rep to NOT support McCarthy OR Bonehead, for ANY Leadership position.
I’ve told his staffers - on a regular basis - that I know my Rep is cozy with these guys....even hosting fundraisers, here in TX...for these RINO’s.
I don’t know if it even matters, but I keep letting him know.
John Boehner IS as much of a problem as 0bama. There has to be a way to remove him &/or replace him as Speaker. And, NOT with another RINO.

Keep it up, though. The more they hear it the more they will be likely to respond to it - sort of like banging pots with ladles.

Absolutely! You know there’s going to be a MAJOR grassroots movement among outside Tea Party groups to demand Boehner’s ouster. He simply SUCKS as a party leader and we MUST turn up the pressure TEN-FOLD to make him step aside.
If we didn't need to "save" Trey Gowdy for the Impeachment, I would recommend him for Speaker, or Louie Gohmert, although Allen West is a GREAT choice.
She was effective alright...bat shit crazy - yes. Radical - yes. Got left wing legislation pass - yes.
Boehner has literally done nothing to move any issue forward, and in fact has lost ground in his term...and squandered public opinion in our favor and was the #1 contributor to letting Obama back in the race for 2012. His leadership team was so ineffective, they allowed the focus to go from reducing government to higher taxes as a solution...an historically unpopular stance.

I don’t think the problem is so much that the American people “are not conservative”, but rather there are too many who are simply too dumbed down and desensitized to care about the horrors that the left-wing is purposely perpetrating against this country and culture every single day!
The only way to get rid of Boehner is to vote him out. He will never step down.
You mean, like we did for Cantor's position? I'm sorry, but if Boehner runs, Boehner wins, and it won't matter if we scream until we're blue in the face. The R's in Washington are not our friends, and they do not like us, or what we stand for. The sooner we understand this, and RUN, don't walk, away from them, the better off we'll be.
I doubt it, and I'm no defeatist. I speak from experience.
If people don’t want leftist RINOs in control, the solution is simply to stop electing leftist RINOs.
I mean come on folks. This isn’t to freaking hard to grasp. You either want then or you don’t. If you don’t, stop electing them and you can quit crying about what you bring on yourselves. There are no excuses.

The Speakership is a different animal than House Majority leader. I think it’s smart for House conservatives to hold their powder between now and the midterms in November, win some more elections, and then go after the Speakership afterward. Despite the iron-clad support from the GOP establishment, I truly believe Boehner is vulnerable. He has virtually no successes in his four years as Speaker that he can cite as a case for keeping him entrenched another term. He also has no ability whatsoever to articulate a vision and platform of constitutionality, liberty, and limited government that inspires and motiviates people to support the GOP. Eric Cantor is just the latest casualty stemming from the those of us extremely frustrated with the GOP’s spinelessness and clamoring for principled party leadership with fire in the belly and willing to stand up to Obama, Reid, and the Dems!
You suggest running away... But to where exactly? I believe it’s far more practical to fight and take over an existing party than it is to build a viable third party from scratch. For one, our nation is burning to the ground at a rapid rate and we simply don’t have the time to do the latter. I would also argue that we have the establishment on the run... There are many more conservatives in Congress now than there were just four years ago. The establishment is getting desperate because they see all the frustration mounting against them and they know it’s just a matter of time before they’re outnumbered and lose their stranglehold over the party!
No need to build one from scratch. There are several options currently available. Independent. Libertarian. Constitution. Don't get me wrong. I was where you are right now almost 20 years ago. You don't know how hard I fought for the R's in 2000, and how ecstatic I was when the R's took over the House, Senate and WH from 2000-2006. And then we got the patriot act and a legacy of bailouts, from the R's. Trust me, if there was a way that I could remain with the R's, and still support my Country and freedom, I would. I learned my lesson, though, and I shudder to think what it's going to take for others to learn theirs.
They are not really options. In actuality they are pretenders.
They pretend to have influence but don’t. The conservative GOP coalition in the house does have power but not control. They can and have influenced legislation.
Boehner is 3rd in line for president... That’s the closest he will EVER be and that power and prestige will have to be pried from his cold, dead hands...
If you want him gone, vote for the Dem in his district...
We are going to NEED a strong house leader in the near future...
Would that be the impeachment legislation? Oh wait, that won't happen. Would it be the Holder impeachment legislation? Oh wait, that hasn't/won't happen either. Lots of nice calls for investigations and such, though, you know, things we don't have time for anymore, and in most cases, are moot points. The left has ramped up their efforts to destroy the Constitution. The right - even the "Conservative" right, has ramped up efforts at licking obama's boots. At this point, the one and only thing the GOPe will listed to is the sounds of our boots as we walk away. Again, the sooner we ALL realize it, the better off we'll be. Otherwise, we're going to continue down the Boehner-Cantor-McCarthy road. If you are happy with that, you're part of the problem.
