Three Israeli students from the Makor Chaim Yeshiva in the religious kibbutz Kfar Etzion were kidnapped by terrorists on Thursday night.
As the students made their way home from the Yeshiva, security forces say they were dragged into a vehicle driven by terrorists that had stopped for them as they waited at a hitchhiking post.
Makor Chaim Yeshiva is located between Jerusalem and Hevron in the Judea region.
IDF and police forces have been searching in the hours since the kidnapping to try and locate the three young students, while a gag order was placed on the press, due to the sensitive nature of the incident and the danger posed to the students.
Reports state that during the IDF search that ensued, special forces located a cell phone signal near the city of Hevron indicating that one of the captured had tried to call the police, but the call was cut off after seconds.
Meanwhile, the Arab Ma'an News Agency reported on Friday that IDF forces were searching the town of Dura to the southwest of Hevron, while Palestinian footage of IDF forces conducting searches was also aired.
Heavy military, Shin Bet and Border Guard patrols are working their way through the Hevron sector, including the Palestinian villages around the town, backed by deep intelligence operations in an attempt to find a trace of the boys.
A torched car with Israeli plates was also found, and investigators are trying to learn if there is a connection between the vehicle and the missing boys.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu will issue a special statement holding Palestinian Authority head Mahmoud Abbas and his unity government responsible for the fate of the missing students.
Police have been in touch with the families and say that they have no reason to believe that the teenagers decided to go missing on their own, or run away from home.

Not being funny, but what were three Jewish teenagers doing wandering around the west bank hitch-hiking? I know people tend to be dumb at that age, but even at their age this was a monumentally dumb thing to do.

One boy is an American and they are still missing.
I hitch hike in that area all the time. Between the old gate of Alon Shevut and the entrance gate to Kfar Etzion, there’s about half a kilometer of road, with an Arab village right next to the former. I would not walk that short distance for any money. But many do, at least in broad daylight. Heard about this case over Shabbos despite the news embargo.

You say that there is a short distance that you will not walk because of the Arab village nearby, right? I don't understand how anybody would consider hitch hiking safer, especially after the Islamic Jihad call to kidnap Israelis. Bad if you do and bad if you don't! It is obvious that we cannot comprehend what life must be like in Judea and Samaria.
I have been praying for the peace of Jerusalem, now I have added praying for those boys, that HaShem will protect them the way He protected the spies in this week's parsha.
Hitchhiking is common in Israel, but from designated places like bus stops. Not really lone wolf hitchhiking such as we used to see here.
Not likely they would voluntarily get in a car with Arabs.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced this morning that Hamas members were behind the kidnapping of three Israeli teenagers in the West Bank on Thursday, and warned there would be "severe repercussions.
"This morning I can say what I was prevented from saying yesterday, before the wave of arrests of Hamas members in Judea and Samaria," Netanyahu said. "Those who carried out the abduction of our boys were members of Hamas. This has severe repercussions," he added.
