I’m assuming he couldn’t secure a job on the staff of Hillary’s former fundraiser and he’s trying to make nice.
Don’t go away mad, just go away..

I have heard Cantor make two statements about the election—the night he lost and the day after. He never once mentioned Dave Brat, did not congratulate him on his victory, or say that he supported him in the general election in November. Where is the unity? The GOPe wants conservatives to back their guy if he wins the primary, but they are sore losers if the conservative wins.
And then said nice things about McCauliffe, claiming he’d be a fine governor, and refusing to support the republican ticket except for his good friend running for Lt. Governor.
Some suggest he also discouraged big-name donors from contributing.
And he claimed he was run out of the race, when he never even competed, dropping out before the convention but not returning the money he collected from supporters.
After which, he ran around talking about how “free” he felt now that he could be an “independent voice”. Which was odd, because he had never expressed a difficulty with agreeing with the conservative position in all the years he served, and his voting record was pretty good.
A lot of people were really mad at him when he turned his back on the party when we needed him to help pull moderates over to vote for Ken. And so people are going to say mean things about him, not because there is a problem with the party, but because he was a backstabbing weasel in the last election.
And I say this as a person who supported Bill Bolling for many years, and having met the man personally. Sadly, he now seems to be an example of what happens when you get so entrenched in the system that you start thinking about maintaining the system rather than doing good.
Which is funny because nobody talking about why Cantor lost really mentions that, but it was the beginning of the doubt for many conservatives — how could Cantor have had a chief of staff who was so comfortable working for a liberal democrat, unless he harbored a lot of those same feelings and was simply not expressing them.
Ken did not “beat him” at the convention. That actually would have been a reasonable thing to happen.
But instead, Bolling QUIT the race, because he couldn’t get people to support him at the convention. Which might have been a great thing, allowing us to avoid a convention fight. But then Bolling complained about the convention being rigged.
And in fact, Bolling made a lot of his own side mad, because there were candidates for other positions who were counting on Bolling delegates to push them over the top, especially in the Lt. GOvernor’s race — some of whom were actually conservatives but were backing Bolling anyway.
If we had had a seasoned legislator that was more respected within the larger republican body as our Lt. Governor candidate, we might well have beat the weak candidate the democrats had picked, it probably would have gotten enough more votes out to pull our Attorney General over the line, and it may have even helped get enough extra republicans out to beat Terri.
Because Bolling dropped out, a lot of his delegates stayed home, and a fine conservative but complete neophyte candidate ended up as our LG nominee, and he was entirely unhelpful to the KC campaign — KC had to do ALL the lifting for the ticket (and did better than the LG nominee).
Where I said “good friend for Lt. Governor”, I meant “good friend for Attorney General”. Wish we had an edit function sometimes.
He didn’t just “disagree” with Ken Cucinelli, he worked to destroy his candidacy for governor, and succeeded. We call that treachery. Bill Bolling had more to do with Terry McAuliffe being governor today than any one single person I can think of. He is disgusting.

You just summed it up quite nicely. We’ll see if Bowling backs Brat - I’m guessing ‘no’ in any meaningful way. Fortunately, Brat’s win is affecting the legislature big time these days & maybe McAwful won’t get his way on Medicaid expansion - he’s been threatening to do an “Obama” with an end run around the legislature & they may have headed him off at the pass. :-) As for Bowling, he needs to just GO AWAY.
I don’t do facebook
I just put my comment on his Facebook page; one that I borrowed from another FReeper on another thread:
“Eric Cantor lost because he is an arrogant prick who believed that he was entitled to that position. He forgot that he was elected to represent people of Virginia’s 7th District. Good riddance!”

We need leaders who will tell Obama that he is a Marxist and the American people are sick of his 'My way or else' way of governing.
Bolling already showed us in the last election that he would rather have Denocrat Terry McAuliffe as Virginia Governor than Conservative Ken Cuccinelli.
Ditto to everything you said.
Agreed, and Bolling is probably a sore loser as well. But Bolling’s post to which he referred congratulated Brat and asked for party unity.
Bill Bolling is a sleazy liberal RINO weasel. Bill Bolling helped to ensure rodent extraordinaire Terry McAwful steal the VA Governorship. Bill Bolling can drop off the face of the earth.
And he flirted with running as an indie and ultimately refused to endorse Cuccinelli.
I’m not interested in a thing a traitor like him has to say.
