The country is straining at the leash for him to vacate the Oval Office for more suitable accomodations. Like those at Leavenworth.
I'm wondering this myself. This one has been planted several places as well as this one - Yahoo, for one.
If the purpose is to establish the claim that this President is tied to his desk, it's about two dozen vacations too late for that howler. If it's to elicit sympathy for the guy's workload, you can only wonder what he's been doing that isn't tied to the issues he's clearly neglected - nearly everything in the Middle East, for example. Gay marriage? Is that really such a massive triumph the poor guy is too exhausted to do his job?
As you point out, it's odd timing. I'm guessing the source is so firmly inside that D.C. bubble that he or she or they don't realize what a clunker it is. We have dead ambassadors, a country invaded by a terrorist army, a fraudulent and contrived invasion of children from the south, but hey, it's OK, the boss is out for ice cream. He's got the "historical view", not any petty insistence on concentrating on the problems in front of him. My heart bleeds.
