Correct, carbs are satanic. Meat, eggs, butter, saturated fat will cure the obesity epidemic. The low fat high carb diet the gov recommends is the main cause of the obesity epidemic. The food pyramid needs to be reversed.

The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now. At this late date nothing can prevent a substantial increase in the world death rate...

Oh, that is a load of horse manure. The increase in girth is more than compensated by the decrease in smoking. The increased cost of medical care is due precisely to the increased length of the average life expectancy. Prior to modern medicine and modern farming death was early, often, sudden and away from the hospital. Today death is rare below 70, long in coming and most often in the Hospital or Hospice.

Face facts, People are living longer and better lives well into their eighties and nineties and a large percentage of these people are over weight, even obese. Many having few if any problems with health not seen by their less chubby brethren. Yes, instances of Type 2 diabetes are higher. Much of that may be due to the over all increase in sugar consumption and weight, but it also may be due to the fact that more and more people are living to the age that these diseases become more prevalent.

Only a few decades ago it was uncommon to live past 65. Now it is uncommon NOT to live past to 75. The average life expectancy is almost 80 years old in the U.S. and that is for a society of every race and ethnicity in the World. For White Americans life expectancy is in the early eighties. For Asian Americans it is higher yet. As for some ethnicity's, African Americans for example it is lower, but still way higher than it was just a few short decades ago.

When social security was adopted benefits began at 65 and the average life expectancy was 62. Now it is uncommon not to collect far more In benefits than a person could ever pay in. Often people are collecting for two or even three decades.

The article is absolutely correct. A little extra, even a lot of extra, weight is a much more healthy position to be in that that of malnutrition and starvation. Starvation and malnutrition where the norm in most countries just a few decades ago and it was even a reality in this country during much of the early 20th Century.

Yeah.
The one store had a manager tell me to just wear a size too big halfway down my backside because “everyone else does.”
My response was somewhat rude, I admit.

It really is amazing how many processed foods have a lot of added sugar (especially HFCS). It’s my understanding even the french fries at some fast food places have added sugar to make them more palatable.

Bingo! You have nailed the cause of the epidemic. Our grocery stores are filled with carbohydrate based foods. It is the carbohydrates that are killing us.

Paging Paul Erlich, paging Paul Erlich!

“The battle to feed all of humanity is over. In the 1970s hundreds of millions of people will starve to death in spite of any crash programs embarked upon now. At this late date nothing can prevent a substantial increase in the world death rate,” he said. He predicted four billion deaths, including 65 million Americans.

“By the year 2000 the United Kingdom will be simply a small group of impoverished islands, inhabited by some 70 million hungry people …”

It really is amazing how many processed foods have a lot of added sugar (especially HFCS).

When you take fat out of food (for the mistaken belief it reduces heart disease) it tastes like cardboard. So food processors started adding sugar. And obesity, diabetes and heart disease continue rise.

Eliminate refined sugar, grains, and processed foods.

Obesity = people eating too much and not doing enough work to burn it off.

...this is the only post necessary on this topic..

Eliminate refined sugar, grains, and processed foods.

...an overly simplistic bromide, that will not work for everybody...as indeed there is no such universal panacea...

Not sure about satanic as I am a great fan on hydrocarbon bonds in most forms, especially gasoline.

Fats have been reduced by a fad but the body loves them and they satiate hunger far more than carbs.

Fats in foods get replaced by carbs that do not satiate so you tend to over eat carbs.

Perhaps you could find them online?

You know exactly what you want, what size and everything.

Just a thought.

A rude answer to a rude suggestion is highly appropriate. I wear EEE width shoes and they are very hard to find even though you could buy them in any tiny little store in a one horse town fifty years ago. One joker in a shoe store tried to tell me that since they could not furnish a size eleven triple E I should just wear a size twelve D width. I looked him straight in the eye and said, “Oh, so too long makes up for too narrow, right?” He looked a little taken aback but I didn’t care, I only have so much tolerance for absurdity. I am on the other end of the scale from you, I am six four and double your weight PLUS ten pounds and wear pants size 38waist x 34inseam. I have always wanted a pair of insulated coveralls for occasional cold snaps we have here but they don’t make any to fit me. I can buy the extra tall size and the legs are long enough to get caught under my shoes but the crotch to shoulder measurement is about three inches too short so I can’t straighten up without feeling as if I am being neutered. Apparently they have never heard that some men have shorter legs and longer bodies than others the same height.

I am glad I haven’t ever run into that store ‘manager’.....it would not have ended well....

Have you tried any online ordering? Or maybe getting some bespoke slacks (made to order)

Clinton’s carb/grain heavy “food pyramid” makes you look like a pyramid. Who knew?
