From school board races to Senate primaries, the education reform package known as Common Core is proving uncommonly divisive this campaign season, popping up as an issue in primary elections all over the country.
Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, a Republican, cites opposition to Common Core as a key reason for her endorsement of state Rep. Chris McDaniel over incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran in Mississippis hotly contested Republican Senate primary. Former Oklahoma state House Speaker T.W. Shannon, a Republican, says Obama administration pressure on states to adopt Common Core is a prime example of why Im running for the Senate.

“Common Core” is another one of those ideas like odumbo’s crew comes up with so this entire nation will eventually be a nation of idiots.
I would suppose there is a gift of money to each state attached to this common core cr**.
Jindal signed Common Core into law in LA. Dissidents could not get any traction there.
Yes there is, but I don’t have details. Communist Core replaced No Child Left Behind and I believe states were paid to make the switch.
Fed Gov should stay OUT of education. It’s a state issue.
But under nobama, of course, they can’t. How else are they going to fill our children’s heads full of Marxist mush?
Every other option is smoke and mirrors.
This is an issue where Republicans can “reach across the aisle” for real and gain support, and I have a hunch some of that went on with Brat. Having been engaged in this battle myself I can honestly say that it crosses the political spectrum. Many liberal teachers hate it, and even some teachers unions are going out on a limb to oppose it. It’s a no-brain-er.
Commie Core.
In 2010, Barack Obama called for fixing the public education system by giving us the Elementary and Secondary Education Act and Race to the Top,
which he said would fix the education system already fixed by the 2001 GW Bush and Ted Kennedy legislation called No Child Left Behind,
which was supposed to fix a system supposedly already fixed by a 1994 piece of federal legislation called Goals 2000,
which was supposed to fix a system already fixed by America 2000,
which was a 1991 response during the Bush administration to a 1983 federal report on education called A Nation at Risk,
which was published a full four years after Jimmy Carter first fixed the nations public school system by establishing a cabinet-level Department of Education in 1979.
Thanks for that thumbnail history. Very interesting. 35 years of Fed Gov interference and our kids are less educated then ever. What a shame.
Home school or a quality private Christian school if you love your kids.
See? They carefully made sure this wouldn’t become a national issue. Go ask Jindal if he cares what his congressman thinks.
Not in Georgia. Our RINO Governor has embraced Common Core with both arms. People are furious.
Look, the colleges are taking up the core curriculum mantel as are the SAT, so how is your non CC student going to get into college?
In other words, no educational “fix” has ever “fixed” the problem, because they don’t take into account the lack of commitment of the American people.
I believe that Senator Vitter, who hopes to succeed Jindal, is also pro-Common Core.
