Rep. Raul Labrador on Tuesday made his case to be elected as House majority leader by saying that he can unify the Republican conference better than Rep. Kevin McCarthy and that he will end the leadership’s “top-down approach” to members.
“What we’ve had is kind of a top-down approach where you talk to members of Congress and they feel like they’re totally irrelevant,” Labrador said on “Fox and Friends.” “One of my friends told me that he feels that 80 percent of the conference feels that they are irrelevant because everything is done by the leaders here.”
McCarthy is regarded as the frontrunner in the race to replace Rep. Eric Cantor in the House post.
“I think what I can do is bring the party together, bring the conference together, much better than Kevin McCarthy,” said Labrador, a sophomore Republican from Idaho. “I want every member to contribute, I want every member to participate in the process and to know that their ideas, whether they are good or bad, they’re going to be heard.”
Labrador only has two more days to collect the needed 118 votes ahead of Thursday’s House GOP vote.
“We’re close,” he said on Fox. “We still have a lot of work to do but we’ve talked to a lot of people, a lot of people are switching their votes and they’re really excited about having someone challenging the establishment right now.”

Well, he’s the ONLY conservative who stepped up to the plate to challenge McCarthy.
Boehner set up a nice little chain of command in the Majority Leader, Whip and Conference Chair positions, as well as the committee chairs, so that no conservatives EVER get into a leadership position.
They must be challenged by somebody, and Labrador is the only one to do it. There will be more elections at the end of the year after the elections. Even if McCarthy gets the nod, he can be weakened.
Have you checked his record? Do you know anything about him, big mouth? I guess you'd rather have the GOPe guy, sophomore.
This is not a news story. It’s racist bullshit. Labrador openly announced that he opposes the GOP leadership amnesty position months ago.
Just what the heck is "conservative" about anyone who wants amnesty and open borders with massive hordes of criminal aliens swarming across, eating out the substance of the USA, stealing, killing, robbing, raping, and screaming for the deaths of everyone who does not belong to "The Race"?
That is what "La Raza" is all about. It is not "conservative", and neither is anyone who gives them the time of day.

With all due respect, Paul Labrador couldn't unite the Idaho Republican Convention. I'm not sure he could unite the Republicans in Congress.

He couldn’t unite the GOP convention because the Tea Party conservatives wouldn’t back down to the GOPe. IMHO, that is a good thing. We’re fighting back. Perhaps you would prefer a nice fuzzy compromise with the statists?

I agree with you on Amnesty. But there are nevertheless only two men vying for the position of Majority Leader. Which would YOU choose??
