Surge in Child Migrants Reaches New York, Overwhelming Advocates

... But while the government’s response has been largely focused on the southwest, the surge of child migrants is quickly becoming a crisis around the country. The fallout is being felt most acutely in places with large immigrant populations, like New York, where newly arrived children and their relatives are flooding community groups, seeking help in fighting deportation orders, getting health care, dealing with the psychological traumas of migration, managing the challenges of family reunification and enrolling in school.

“It’s almost like a refugee crisis,” said Steven Choi, executive director of the New York Immigration Coalition, an advocacy group.

Federal officials will not reveal how many children they are holding, how many are being released or where they are being sent. But in the New York region, immigrant advocacy organizations say they have seen a stunning rise in the number of unaccompanied minors seeking help in the past several months.

“All of a sudden it went from a trickle to more like a river,” said Anne Pilsbury, director of Central American Legal Assistance in Brooklyn.

Cutting out transparency and accountability is evidence that the Regime is complicit in furthering this invasion (yes, that's what it is) as far as I'm concerned.

Yeah, but in New York?

Arizona I can see. It’s automatically targeted because of it’s Republican proclivities, with revenge motive over it’s immigration intransigence as the icing on the cake.

But New York is one of the last places to try C-P, I think, because it’s already far Liberal. If it does collapse, a huge chunk of the rest of the country ... simply backs away thinking “well, that’ll learn ‘em”

From the article: "Most of the children who have been detained at the southwest border have been channeled into deportation proceedings and, within several days, handed over to the Department of Health and Human Services, which cares for them until they can be released to family members or legal guardians in the United States.

The majority of the departments’ 100 or so shelters are near the border, but others are scattered around the country. At least two are in the New York metropolitan area, housing a total of about 300 children; they have been at capacity for months, advocacy groups said.

A spokesman for the Administration for Children and Families, the division of the Department of Health and Human Services that oversees the shelters, would not comment on the department’s current capacity or whether the agency was planning to expand regional shelter capacity."

Who the hell are all of these illegal alien, commie lawyers that are going on the boob tube and telling us that these marauding invaders are automatically eligible for amnesty and all of the taxpayer subsidized freebies that come with it? It’s time to throw those bas***** in jail where they belong.

Oh, I don’t doubt that it’s happening. Just that it’s an intentional attempt at C-P.

That they’re overloading NYC bespeaks a panic reaction to the inflow: they’re trying to stuff the kids anywhere and everywhere they can. I’m sure there’s some level of selective targeting to achieve payback (Arizona) or long term demographic goals (that little Conservative town in VA in the article this morning), but an attempt at C-P would bypass NY completely.

Maybe because of it’s generous welfare policies? Often these C-P ideas spring out of control.

Perhaps you're referring to amnesty-minded RINOS. The open-borders crowd is fine with it.

I don't think so Texan5. The following "key words" are the reason they made it to liberal New York:

“It’s almost like a refugee crisis,” said Steven Choi, executive director of the New York Immigration Coalition, an advocacy group.

That is correct-they definitely set themselves up for it, too. I don’t believe people like Steven Choi thought they would be inundated like this in NY-they likely thought most of this would remain in the south, and they could go on sobbing about these “refugees”.

I’m delighted some “refugees” are in NY, kids or not-let them see what we’ve known here for a long time-those people are not refugees, and the only opportunity they are interested in is an EBT card. The general store out here quit taking all EBT cards and food stamps the first day these “unaccompanied kids” were in the news-smart owners...

It’s the first wave, but has been going on for months. And, the government won’t disclose numbers - how many, nation of origin, where they’re being sent, etc. Absolute tyranny.
