Texas Governor Rick Perry orders border surge
Twitchy ^ | 18 Jun 2014 | Rick Perry

Posted on 06/19/2014 5:57:41 AM PDT by MamaTexan

The responsibility for securing the border rests exclusively on the federal government. The federal government’s failure to secure the border has created an incentive for families to send their children on a dangerous, and sometimes fatal, journey. Until the federal government fulfills its duty, it falls on the State of Texas to address those obligations

Perry’s not my first choice, even from the state of Texas, but it would be hard to not support him if he forces a mano a mano stand off with Mr. Hope and Change.

Agree completely, this would be a total lose/lose scenario for the dems and the bamster.

It's something I'd love to see. Faster, please.

It's already gone on for decades. Good luck to you.

Thank you!

It sickens me that this has gone on so long. People have been screaming about it for decades, so there's no logical reason for it to have gotten to this point.

Yes, he can (assuming Perry uses the National Guard rather than state-exclusive resources).

But doing so will only serve to highlight the abject failure of his Administration in this matter ... reinforcing the perception of abject failure of his Administration in all other matters.

I don’t trust Rick Perry as far as I could throw the nearest Merck sales rep.

LOL! In some ways, neither do I. I've watched him like a hawk.

I will give him this though - you poke him hard enough when he gets out of line, and he WILL listen.

That's more than I can say for a lot more of 'em.

http://www.txsg.state.tx.us/ Here's a link to them. You can enlighten yourself.

I'm typing this, here in Texas, about 5 meters from where I was born. I've lived here a long time, too. Like all my life. ;)

I would like to see the other States chip in and help with the costs.

It would be nice, but heaven forbid the funds would probably get caught up in the 'commerce clause' trap and give the feds an excuse to intervene.

With so much focus on the Constitution lately, sadly Constitutional interpretation is growing similar to Bible interpretation.

“Cut libtard programs to pay for it”

Bingo. And that is what Boner should be saying to the President and on the talk shows.

“What social program do we cut from to pay for this, since you already gutted the military?”

Anybody know exactly what the DPS will actually do at the border?

Send them back at gun point? (Hey, I'm okay with that).

Detain them and throw them in a holding facility?

Maybe it's a lack of coffee this morning but I've read everything I have found on this and for the live of me I can't figure out what it is they're going to do rather than "something".

My concern is that for the most part Perry has been very soft on illegals and that this is window dressing.

I know. And the Founders took such pains to write it in plain English.

You’re probably right. Still, as a border State, I’d like to see at least some cooperation from my Governor, we all will benefit from Texas’ actions.

“and shall protect each of them against invasion;”

From my reading the context of your points presented are merely opinions from my reading as it related to internal squabbles between the States in regard to the 10th amendment. It is an enumerated power and responsibility to protect ALL states from FOREIGN invasion. I guarantee you the Feds and USSC will also press against States Rights just as they did in Arizona, my adoptive home State.

The key word in the Constitution is shall. I am not at all against my native born State from acting in its own best interests. I am just pointing out it is the Republic’s responsibility of the Federation to enforce and protect the states as a whole from any invasion, be it passive, willing or with violence (militaristic).

Does Perry have the “jewels” to press this issue while at the same time exercising his authority at call up the NG as is regularly done in cases of local calamities such as natural disaters? I say no because of his comments in New York when asked about this earlier this week on Fox and Friends and he said that Texas does not have the resources.

He got called on it in a big way in the conservative ranks and then he starts this stupid business? Where are these “surge” resources that were not there the day before? Just more political posturing by a man who admittedly will not do his homework.

Nobody except for a handful will call out this despot, who calls himself our President, because they are too friggin afraid of what the media will say about them, worried about what their closet will bare or they are all just a big collection of Ruling Class despot wannabe’s who are just itching to get their hands back on the wheel with all of these new powers Obama delegated to himself and willingly acquiesced to by being silent.

I instead look at this, and many more issues we are dealing with today, as did Admiral Farragut when he entered Mobile Bay. But in large, those days are gone to virtually all of the citizenry of this once great country because even when leaders like Ted Cruz come out and yells “Follow Me”, most cannot be disrupted from pecking away at their cell phones or the latest episode of Dancing with the Stars.

Rocky does need a slap upside the head from time to time to keep him from sliding toward the left- but I do credit him with Texas’ Prosperity

Why not just deputize any legal and law abiding citizen that can show up with their own transportation, an AR or AK with lots of ammo, and give them the authority to do whatever is necessary to stop illegal boarder crossings. When the word gets out I think the invasion will halt rather abruptly.
