It must be a Garden of Eden out there because the federal government has the time to go after the Redskins, known around Dallas as NFL enemy #1.
According to a "trademark" decision, the US government is now in the business of determining whether or not a team mascot discriminates against a group.
Who is next? Will the Obama administration soon decide that American Thinker discriminates against Americans who don't think?
The decision is absurd and I hope that Mr Snyder, and fans all over, stand up against this nonsense.
The decision also comes at a time when there are so many problems on the president's desk.
In Iraq, The New York Times reports that the big oil refinery may be lost to terrorists.
Wonder what that will do to the price of gas the next time that the fans drive to the stadium to watch the Washington "whatever their new name" is?

Thank Harry “I am old and slow” Reid.
I think they need to rename the Cowboys, the republicans.
and the redskins need to become the democrats.
I am a real cowboy and am offended at the Dallas name.
Political correctness is out of control.
Have the ‘Rats choreographed the news for the next 2+ years?
I’m wondering if they’ve used focus groups and central planning to create a roadmap of news to make and create. Sure, there will be the usual ad-hoc unknowable things they don’t expect. But that notwithstanding, I suspect they have a bag of news stuffs, and a plan to whip one out every few days to run the clock...
I guess Obama and his goons have never heard of international trademarks... I’m sure the redskins have the trademark in other countries as well as the U.S. If so, the Redskin name is still protected in the U.S. via treaty under the Madrid system for the international registration of marks.
From wiki:
The Madrid system (officially the Madrid system for the international registration of marks) is the primary international system for facilitating the registration of trademarks in multiple jurisdictions around the world. Its legal basis is the multilateral treaty Madrid Agreement Concerning the International Registration of Marks of 1891, as well as the Protocol Relating to the Madrid Agreement (1989).
Say Washington Redskins and Microsoft 'gits you?'
This is so embarrassing as a country. Our national economy is in shambles. Our standing in the international scene is a joke but our congress and federal government have other priorities. What the hell is so important about changing the name of a football team? If they want to give the team a name more reflective of their city they should be renamed the Washington Destroyers. That city has done nothing but destroy the financial and social institutions of this nation.
If nothing else, maybe, and I do mean MAYBE, this will awaken some American’s who sole purpose in life is monitoring professional sports.....
Good point. Reid’s senate is taking on issues that are safe for them. They are running out the clock until the next charade election comes along.
As for the Redskins, my thought is that the owner ought to tell Reid that they are making plans to relocate to an American city. And remind them of the economic impact of that.
The USPTO did the same exact thing to the Redskins in 1999, and got defeated in court a few years later. The same thing will happen this time.
US government just KILLED FREE SPEECH ,the first amendment protects the Redskins ,but not in The Obama World
Washington can change their name to the Red Chinese, it’ll fit right in since China owns this country and it will be that much more fun when the N.Y. Giants crush them.
