Presbyterians to divest as protest against Israel
Yahoo ^

Posted on 06/20/2014 6:04:58 PM PDT by Java4Jay

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) on Friday became the most prominent religious group in the United States to endorse divestment as a protest against Israeli policies toward Palestinians, voting to sell church stock in three companies whose products Israel uses in the occupied territories.

Last week, the pension board of the United Methodist Church, the largest mainline Protestant group in the U.S., revealed plans to sell its holdings worth about $110,000 in G4S, which provides security equipment and has contracts with Israel's prison system.

I am glad for you and the people in your area. There must be a line at some point where good churches of these organisations, who have become apostate, remove themselves from them or become infected by their lies. I would suggest the line has long since been crossed. “Come out of her my people” seems very appropriate in these times.

I wouldn't say I'm "out" but I've been a "C and E" Presbyterian for a few years now. (I understand offerings are way down at our church, so maybe I'm not alone.)

Thank God himself that we just recently left PCUSA for ECO. What evil. Satan has taken over.

Good. May you find a better spiritual home soon. I’d tease you about joining us Catholics *wink* - but a lot of former PC USA members seem to be more comfortable with some of the Southern Baptist churches.

Just remember Screwtape’s advice to his nephew on how to tempt his assigned man: “If you can’t stop your subject from going to church, make him shop around.”

Good luck and blessings to you.

SOME, perhaps, and a number of so-called “mainline” churches, such as methodists, UCC, and so forth, have definitely slipped away from their first love, who is the Christ.

On the other hand, chuches who preach the unmitigated GOSPEL are growing at an amazing rate. My Baptist church has to set up seats in the back virtually every week for new folks. We preach nothing but the Gospel and we now run 6-7 buses going to various local cities, bringing in kids and families. God is richly blessing us

So kindly refrain from trying to tar ALL Protestant Churches with the same satanic brush. It hasn’t worked before and won’t now.

“Most,” without definition as to WHO is part of it, may as well be “all,” as one is left unable to know who ISN’T part of that “most.” Which may have been your intent.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Presbyterian_Church_%28U.S.A.%29

In 1984 they had 3,100,951 members. As of 2013 their membership has declined to 1,760,200.

In the last couple of years it has been dropping about 5% a year.

You’re free to infer whatever you please, but don’t put words in my mouth and don’t try to read my mind.

The PCA did just that back in 1973 and broke off from PC USA.
