Fly the flag!
Vanity | Your old Pappy

Its time to fly the flag, my brothers and sisters. The wickedness is fully upon us. Fly that American Flag upside down. Fly the Gadsden flag. Fly your Palmetto or Lone Star Flag. We are going to need to rely on each other in the years ahead.

Trying to figure out the best flag to fly from my boat. the US Ensign, of course, and the Big Dipper and North Star; but what other, banner?

I have considered the Gadsden flag - too common and obviously identified with certain groups. I want to be low key but emphatic and maybe provoke someone to ask questions.

The Bonnie Blue flags makes the right statement - but, on a boat, it looks too much like a Navy Commodore’s flag.

The Confederate battle flag or navy jack? - too belligerent and identified with racism (No matter what Southrons say) and not very appropriate at latitude 52N.

Considering the Stars and Bars (First flag of the Confederacy)- a stronger statement than the Bonnie Blue flag, but again, perhaps I am too far North.

Possibly the Green Mountain boys flag (I am originally from Vermont) But no. No one would recognize it here in the Northwest.

Come and Take It?
Culpepper?
Pine Tree?

I noticed a 48 star US Ensign on on a boat up here. Very subtle. Perhaps too much so.

I am open to suggestions.

I live on a sailboat. To me the pirate flag only means one of two things:

1. I am an irresponsible jerk who will get drunk, make a lot of noise and possibly endanger your vessel. Do not moor near this boat or you will not get any sleep.

2. I have children under the age of ten who make my decisions for me.

I have no children and I don't get drunk.

Good luck deciding on a flag.

if things get bad enough I will run up the Confederate Battle Flag instead .... I’ve got a nice 5x8

If it is 5X8, it is a Confederate Naval Jack. The battle flag is square - 1X1 aspect ratio. IIRC

But very few people know the difference and they will get the message.

Well my "ship" is at 7,600 feet and about 800 miles to the nearest ocean so the Jolly Roger may not give the same sort of impression. OTOH if it makes people give me a wide berth I'm fine with that. ;-)

In the year and a half that it's been flying not one person, friend, neighbor or stranger, has asked me about it. Maybe they sense that it's a can of worms best left alone. lol

You’ve got the rattlesnake Naval Jack to consider. Fly it! Let the world know you will fight. If that’s too much for you, you can always fly the rainbow flag.

I’ve been flying the Gadsden flag on holidays since the illegal Kenyan was reelected. That red, white & blue flag and the land it represented has been captured by a socialist ideology foreign to the US Constitution. Patriots arise, we must cast out the invaders.

Going to fly the Rebel flag...we need a Betsy Ross to design a new flag for the Conservative States of America.

It is really hard to fly the US Flag here. My neighbors on both sides fly theirs daily to support Obama and what he stands for ... because they a "true patriots." One has a cardboard statue of Obama in the front room. They've "usurped" my flag. It doesn't stand for what it stood for when neo communists now pick it up and fly it as "their" banner ... it causes me to gently fold mine and place it in its safe little box. I fly the SC Succession flag most of the time now.

...for which is stood.

you are correct , but in one regard :
Rectangular CBF’s were flown in the western theater quite often . NBF had his own version , Joe Johnson also authorized it’s use .
In the ANV the perfectly square forms were the CBF

do you know that there were authorized versions of the CBF within the Army of Northern Virginia which were trimmed in orange and pink ? I kid you not .
I have such a 2nd Ver ANV CBF that’s a beauty . Had it made by one of America’s greatest historic replica flag makers , out of heavy silk .

Drive down any road in Texas and you will see more solo Texas flags being flown than solo US or US and Texas flags. And increasingly the Come and Take it flag under the Texas flag, not to mention the de Zavala flag.
