One-on-one with Rick Perry (part two)
Washington Post ^ | 6-20-14 | Jennifer Rubin

Posted on 06/22/2014 6:33:27 AM PDT by RKBA Democrat

Texas Gov. Rick Perry is taking seriously his preparation for a possible presidential run, meeting with domestic and foreign policy experts. He is also campaigning for governors. In Iowa, for example, he said, “I’m not worried about [GOP Gov.] Terry Branstad. But we have an important Senate race there.” Branstad, who’s at the top of the ticket, “will raise the tide for everyone.”

Perry is more at ease, less forced in conversation than he was four years ago. He even looks and sounds different. Gone is the Texas swagger (and much of the twang). In his distinctive black eyeglasses, he looks more like a middle-aged businessman than a Texas pol. But that doesn’t mean he is without controversy. He got himself in hot water last week by comparing homosexuality to alcoholism. But unlike in 2012, he quickly corrected course at a GOP gathering in D.C.:

What is an RKBA democrat and where do you live?

LoL! My first reaction is to note that an RKBA Democrat is a prickly and difficult to eradicate form of FReeper.

The name comes from the Right to Keep and Bear Arms and democrat comes the fact that I was a democrat in bad standing when I joined FR. I figured I would get zotted if I didn’t reveal that and had no desire to lie about it in any case. I left the rat party some time later. I keep the name out of nostalgia.

I’m in VA. Although longer term I expect to move to NH as part of the Free State Project.

You are right. Every candidate except Ted Cruz has been demonized. What are freepers going to do if Ted comes out and says we will have to let some of the illegals stay? Then who will we run for President?

Frankly I am shocked Perry did not get applause from all the anti gay freepers here for his comment about being gay is like being an alchoholic. I don’t know why he backed up on that comment. It should get him the conservative base back.

My brother in law is like 20th generation Mexican American from El Paso TX and his cousin told him yesterday that there are floods of militia coming in from several states and Perry is swearing them all into the TX guard. They are going to seal up that Texas border. So good for Rick Perry and Greg Abbott.

I happen to like Rick Perry. He’s a mature adult, a states righter and I know he hates the EPA so I’m for Rick Perry or Ted Cruz in 2016. There is nobody else on the radar right now.

'It's outrageous, and most Texans don't seem to care'.

______________________________

Well this Texan (fourth generation) cares!!

I love Texas with all my heart, and it breaks my heart to see Texas being overrun with thousands upon thousands of aliens bringing in disease, criminals, drugs, most probably Muslim radicals who seek to destroy us, and lowlife 'gimmethats' who will surely bankrupt and destroy Texas if not stopped.

And frankly, I'm astonished that more Texans have not poured out their outrage about Obama opening the flood gates and letting in thousands of illegal aliens! Travis and Sam Houston would be ashamed of us.

My pleadings for fellow Texans to warn the governor, and our representatives that we would not stand for this atrocity (complete with email, fax and phone numbers) have largely been ignored- and even have been made fun of.

Some of my posts have even mysteriously disappeared.

I am extremely disappointed in my fellow Texans.

I have been a supporter of Rick Perry, BUT UNTIL HE PUTS A STOP TO THE ILLEGAL ALIENS FROM GETTINGG ACROSS THE BORDER IN THE FIRST PLACE, he is persona non grata to me. When he just hands them over ICE who lets them go free, he is indeed assisting the invasion.

Yup. As I mentioned in a previous post, no one is going to be absolutely perfect in every way, but too many people are too rigid in their ideology and the Dems know this and target it - it is our weakness, not our strength, but some consider it as bending over.

Well if it comes down to between Mitt and Rick or Jeb and Rick freepers will be peeing all over themselves to pull the lever for Rick.

I am very concerned that Ann Romney is not going to be able to stop Mitt from jumping in the 2016 race. If he does the GOP elite will embrace him like a long lost son. The money will roll in and he will be jammed down our throats. I think that Mitt knows he really did win the 2012 election but the election fraud in Ohio and Fla cost him the Whitehouse. All the polls the day before the election showed him surging. Bill Clinton came out and said he was sure Mitt was going to win. It must eat at Mitt night and day.

Its important that we have as many conservatives as possible lining up for the 2016 campaign to try to keep Mitt and Jeb out of it.

Perry is swearing them all into the TX guard.

************

That maybe happening but I don’t believe it until I hear/see it from
the Executive officers of the State.

Buckeye are you hearing any such thing in your circles?

Yeah, Mitt had his chance and probably actually won the election, but the Dems have vote fraud down to a science now and the only way to beat them is to win overwhelmingly and then ruthlessly clean house when we get in office.

My brother in law’s cousin says you can’t hardly get in a restaurant for all the militia around his area. He says they are swarming there.

“the only way to beat them is to win overwhelmingly and then ruthlessly clean house when we get in office.”

The way to win the Whitehouse in 2016 is to nominate a candidate who will electrify the republican base and get those 6 million who stayed home last time to the polls. That’s how we win not trying to get blacks and Hispanics to vote for republicans. Not gonna happen.

Don’t you have to be sworn in the state guard to be allowed to patrol?

I don’t know the rules but I seriously doubt the Texas State Guard is expanding it’s roles with out of state units.
http://www.txsg.state.tx.us/faq.aspx

There are several differning groups and the names get confused at times.

Texas Military forces

.. Texas State Guard
.. Texas Army National Guard
.. Texas Air National Guard

In addition there are others such as:
.. Texas State Militia .. http://www.texasstatemilitia.com/about-us.html

But as far as I know they haven’t been mobilized as of yet. That’s why I pinged
BuckeyeTexas as she has info.

I read an article I think yesterday where Texas officials said the militia were welcome but they needed to sign up with the guard.

Oh, the libs have done plenty and said plenty to demonize Ted Cruz. They also would love nothing better than to have Perry in the race to split it so Cruz couldn’t receive the GOP nomination for President.

I like Perry too, but not as President.
He will not win.

There’s a difference between being flexible and bending over forwards.

I see it, you see it...
