MERIDIAN, Miss. —Tea party candidate Chris McDaniel made several campaign stops across Mississippi Monday, the day he faces U.S. Sen. Thad Cochran in a runoff election.

McDaniel was stumping in Meridian early in the day, shaking hands and meeting voters at a local lunch spot. A crush of national media was on his trail as McDaniel seeks to unseat the six-term incumbent.

McDaniel, a state senator, said voter turnout is the key and he is taking every chance he gets to criticize Cochran supporters for trying to recruit Democrats to vote in Tuesday's runoff.

From what I hear, there are two focuses in this race going into the final hours.

1) The coastal areas that McDaniel surprisingly won the first time, whether or not Cochran can increase his margin there

2) The Delta counties, whether Cochran can turn out the Democrips to vote for him.

GO MCDANIEL!

Your point #2 is the interesting question.

Do we ever see low information voters turn out in large numbers to vote in a Republican primary run-off election?

Not typically, BUT we have seen that Cochran has actual black Democrat organizers working for him. How effective they will be remains to be seen.

I don’t know why any conservative republican would vote for Thad. He’s enjoyed the ride for too long and watch us accumulate over $17+ trillion in debt. Time for Thud to Go.

I can't think of one. Maybe the 1980 U.S. Senate runoff in AL, won by Jeremiah Denton, but I don't know if his voters were "low information". And I don't recall who Denton beat.

A lot of it is just laziness. People get the call, they put on their jacket, and they go vote for the name they know. That’s what happened in Kentucky.

Go baby go! But these “open” primaries are worrisome—just another avenue to give the Rats more influence and control.

Habit, name ID, incumbency, desire for federal projects, admirers of Lott and Barbour

Kentuckians are among the most uninformed of the low information voters. They would have preferred Alben Barkley if he were still around.

I believe the problem in Kentucky was that the conservative candidate put his foot in his mouth a few times too many. He also spoke before a cock-fighting group and pretended to not know what the group was about. If not for those two things, I believe the rival candidate would have had a chance.

Anyone......

Any reports on early/absentee voting? The numbers could be an indication of the
public’s interest is in the runoff...

Not sure if Denton even had a primary opponent. The real action was on the Democrat side where challenger Jim Folsom defeated incumbent Senator Donald Stewart in the Dem primary. Denton went on to win in November becoming Alabama’s first GOP Senator in over a century.

That would be a great headline if Cochran loses, Thad Went Thud in Old Miss!

Was interesting to hear the lefties say, “How can they vote against pork?” As if, handouts from debt spending is more important than saving the Republic.

Need to get rid of all the RINOs. Cochran’s putting out ‘street money’ for the Rats ‘get out the vote efforts.’

Shows that the establishment is really the enemy of all conservatives.

Now that once Republican, Senator, Thad Cochran has morphed into becoming an Obamabot, & jumped the shark, becoming the official Obama, Obamabot, Democrat, African-American candidate in the Mississippi Senate runoff race, it is imperative that every Republican, Independent, Conservative, Blue Dog Democrat, etc., turn out and vote for Chris McDaniel to become the next United States Senator from the great state of Mississippi!!!

Without further ado or comment.......every eligible voter in “Ole Miss” Vote for Chris McDaniel, today, Tuesday, June 24, 2014, and give Chris McDaniel, a stunning, overwhelming victory, over “turncoat” Obamabot, Republican, Thad Cochran!!! Such a massive victory will be heralded across the land from Maine to California and “We the American people will have spoken, that we are taking our beleoved country back from the ilk, vermain and America haters, Barack Hussein Obama and the entire Democrat Party”!!!

Dear Lord, please remind all voters for Chris to make it to the polls today.

Also and more importantly, keep all voters for Thad away from the polls. There are so many other things for them to do today, let them forget to vote.

In Jesus name,
Amen!
