The 3-year-old girl who was reportedly kicked out of a KFC in Jackson, Mississippi, because the scarring on her face — remnants of a pit bull attack — were disturbing customers, was nothing more than an elaborate hoax, reports Laurel Leader-Call.

The family of Victoria Wilcher claimed that she and her grandmother were asked to leave a KFC restaurant because her dog-attack scars were scaring patients, prompting the fast food chain to donate $30,000 to cover the girl’s medical bills.

But the donations to help her recover from injuries that were inflicted upon her are still a decent thing to do for a little girl who is surrounded by unscrupulous people.

Not hard to guess where the money went.

I can’t imagine anyone being upset by them.

That's what made me think right off that this was a scam. The girl was obviously injured, but in no way "horribly disfigured."

Wait a minute! The absence of Closed Circuit Video proof that something happened doesn’t prove it didn’t happen. Was there a gap in the tape? Were the employees interviewed? Was the grandmother able to point out the employee that asked her to leave with her granddaughter? This sounds like professional damage control after the fact. I want to know more details before I jump to conclusions.

“It has been a heart-breaker, I can tell you that right now,” said Donald Mullins in an exclusive interview with 16 WAPT’s Scott Simmons. “It has just about killed me that my grandbaby almost died because of my dogs.

Mullins’ granddaughter, Victoria Wilcher, was attacked by three of his pit bulls at his Simpson County home in April. Bones in her face were broken and she lost an eye because of the attack.

After one of her many doctor’s appointments, Victoria’s grandmother said she took the little girl to a KFC in Jackson last month, but was asked to leave.

“They just told us, they said, ‘We have to ask you to leave because her face is disrupting our customers.’ (Victoria) understood exactly what they said,” said Kelly Mullins, who is Donald Mullins’ ex-wife.

Since the media reports of the allegation went viral a week ago, the family, using the crowdsourcing fund website, gofundme.com, has raised more than $133,000 as of Friday afternoon. Before the Facebook post was reported by the media, the family had raised less than $300.

Victoria’s family has retained Jackson attorneys Lindsey Turk and William S. Kellum.

When asked to respond to the KFC statement Friday, Turk said she had no comment.

Victoria’s Victories also has reported that a Las Vegas plastic surgeon, Dr. Frank Stile, has offered his services to Victoria at no cost to the family through a nonprofit foundation.

Turk confirmed that Stile was to fly to Jackson this morning to meet with the family. Turk said the family has not yet accepted any offers of free services from anybody.

However, sources told the Laurel Leader-Call that the story didn’t quite add up, so the restaurant hired a private investigator....

What is that? Some chicken supervisor wants to keep his job so he surreptitiously calls the paper to say the story was a hoax?

On April 10, three of Donald Mullins’ 10 pit bulls burst through a door and began mauling Victoria at his Garrett Road home.

Simpson County Sheriff Kenneth Lewis told WAPT at the time that one of the dogs ripped open the back door and jumped on the little girl.

The other two dogs dragged the girl into the back yard and began mauling her. Donald Mullins and his girlfriend, Rita Tompkins, were arrested and charged with child endangerment, but both are out on bond.

The Laurel Leader-Call is a three day a week rag-sheet. It was reopened with a customer list purchased when the remnants of the once proud daily newspaper folded in 2012.

>> . That’s the only people that own pit bulls in Mississippi -white trash.<<

Excuse me. I happen to live in Mississippi and am the proud owner of 2 pit bulls and I am most certainly not white trash. Your stereotyping is disgusting, and ignorant.

"(Victoria) understood exactly what they said"

No, what (Victoria) understood is that it is ok to lie. Nevertheless I hope this little girl gets the treatment she needs.

This smelled like a scam from the start. But such a thing could happen. My niece is (genetically) moderately facially disfigured. One of the moms at her dance school specifically requested to enroll her child in classes my niece wouldn't be in because her looks were upsetting to the woman's child. The mom was told by the school director to go pound sand. Sadly, that mom missed a teaching moment on compassion and acceptance.

We live in a twitter world. We would rather send dollars to some kid in MS than look for a similarly needful child down the block.

We do not go to church, we do not know our neighbors, we have no community left.

The fact that so many have reached out is indicative of how hungry we are for that sense of belonging.

It is truly a sad commentary on a country that has so much to give.

The poor woman, I don’t know what it was she had. Something really strange with her eyes. They kept moving around, and seemed to be bulged out. Really, like googly eyes to an extreme degree.

Graves' disease, perhaps.

The scars and dog attack were real.

Likely white trash using the dogs to keep people from stealing their drug trash. That’s the only people that own pit bulls in Mississippi - white trash.

That's definitely the case here.

Gramps and his girlfriend were keeping 10 pit bulls in the backyard behind their trailer. The little girl was playing in the trailer, when three of the dogs broke open the back door and attacked her, dragging her outside.

Reportedly, meth cooking is a major industry in the vicinity. Some speculated earlier that Gramps and gf may have been so engaged. However, they were only booked on child endangerment.

Dude, not me. I figured it sounded hinky to begin with. Who does that sort of thing? Not to say zero possibility but there are a lot of sick kids at Batson so it’s not like that would have been the first kid in that restaurant with a severe issue of some sort.

Or any of the businesses in that area.

I wonder if the grandmother will be taken to court over this hoax and be made to pay back the money she extorted from KFC? This sounds criminal to me.

And now, the new reality TV series, "Grandma's Going To Jail."

What is that? Some chicken supervisor wants to keep his job so he surreptitiously calls the paper to say the story was a hoax?

More likely, credible denials by the store staff backed up by a suspicious lack of incriminating video on the store's security server. Then there was the fact that the POS server showed no mashed potatoes and sweet tea sold during the relevant time frame.

At the outset, KFC gave them the benefit of the doubt, saying they would investigate and make sure it never happens again and, BTW, here's $30k to help with the medical bills.

Now they're saying it's a hoax, but the little girl can keep the $30k. That's known as a cheap ad campaign!
