A gang of men attacked an American student while he was drinking in the street - grabbing a glass bottle from his hands and smashing it over his head, a court was told.

Francesco Hounye, 23, from Florida, had been in Britain for just three days when he was set upon by the men while he was walking home with a friend in Shadwell, east London.

Shaleem Uddin, 20, Shadhat Hussain, 19, Kamrul Hussain, 22, and Massom Rahman, 22, targeted Mr Hounye when they saw him swigging from a bottle of Jagermeister.

(VIDEO)

They then chased him, beat him, and smashed the bottle over his head, Snaresbrook Crown Court heard.

More adherents of the “peaceful religion”.

No one in the western world will be safe until each and every Muslim is converted or expelled.

why would anyone ever visit any place that doesn’t respect their rights to self-protection?

I won't be anymore. From 1993 to 1999 I made multiple trips to Wales. My wife and I landed at the airport, rented a car and drove directly to Cardiff before making a stop. We erred with a choice of Gatwick the first time. The drive was longer than starting from Heathrow. We've stayed at B&B locations in Cardiff, Carmarthen and Aberystwyth. It has been 15 years since our last visit. I'm less comfortable with the changes I've observed over that interval.

Pistols are very difficult to get a permit for, but not impossible. Getting a permit for a long guns would roughly equate to what would be required here (the hoops you would jump through) for a concealed carry permit here.

I’ve been to gun stores in Ireland, the guns are typically in vault rooms (legacy of past IRA thefts), but they won’t let a foreign national in the vault room for fear of their license.

Who was guilty of the misunderstanding — the American or the muzzies?

Well let’s see now, this occurred in Britain, the attackers are muslin, the victim was an American, probably a Christian, verdict? American pays all court costs and fees and must formally apologize to the muslins for not respecting their culture of barbarity hatred.

Getting smacked in the eye with a bottle of Jagermeister: Still less lethal than drinking it.

Careful there. I hope it’s just a misunderstanding on my part, but others reading your comment might also think that you’re implying that some sort of violent action against “each and every Muslim” would be an acceptable solution to make the western world safe.

I try to avoid going into states that don't recognize my CC permit. I would never go to Europe for that reason, and especially the UK, which is a very dangerous country.

Decades ago, I did visit European countries on several occasions. But then, I was young and foolish.

I guess it’s just going to take a bit longer for the Brits (or, in this case, an American visiting there) to realize that the RULES HAVE CHANGED, and now they risk a lot more than a “traffic ticket” by a Bobby if they care to drink in public.

The Brits will, eventually, figure this out - as more and more of them get their faces rearranged (or worse).

Irish gun laws are very similar to British gun laws.

No, the UK isn’t a ‘very dangerous’ country.

Our murder rate is a quarter of yours, our gun murder rate one-sixteenth. Yes, we have crime, and some of it violent, but for all the hoopla and hype, the UK is a safe country to live in.

Frankly, being told the UK is violent by an American perhaps is the definition of irony.

I’m too lazy to look up the data but my recollection is that there is considerably more violent crime per capita in the UK than in America. You focus on guns, I focus on violent crime (strong-armed robberies, break-ins with assaults on the homeowners, that sort of thing). Deny?

I have been to your country several times. For several reasons (one of which is your country’s crime problem), I won’t be back...something I’m sure distresses you.

P.S. I don’t worry about violent crime where I live since I have the means of fending off assailants: my guns. Too bad about you.

The UK’s biggest violent crime is burglary. Most of which take place when the homeowner is out.

Armed robbery isn’t a major crime, certainly not at US levels, violent assaults tend to be the result of excess alcohol and whilst again they exist, the numbers certainly wont be any worse per capita than your nation. Remember there are 28 different types of assault on the UK statute books. That’s why the UK figures re violent crime are skewed and the UK appears so ‘violent’. In fact, crime and violent crime has dropped across the UK.

I can guess the reasons you wont come back. Too Muslim (get outside London, it isn’t the UK!), but to say you wont come back because of supposed high UK violence is ridiculous, and frankly, from an American, is just ironic and bizarre.
To be lectured on violent society by an American, I don’t know whether to laugh or just roll my eyes.

Ever stopped to think that the reason you wander around with concealed carry is because your own nation is so violent?. Yet you are scared to come to the UK and you are seriously suggesting we’re some violent hellhole?.

The UK is a safe country to visit and live in.

Oh, and you ARE lazy. As I point out all the time, that there are 2.3 million guns in the UK, and that I am the owner of two.
