The Fix: The Story of Thad Cochran's Victory, in 6 Maps
The Washington Post ^ | June 26, 2014 | Philip Bump

Coming into Tuesday's runoff election in Mississippi, polling suggested that incumbent Sen. Thad Cochran was at a major disadvantage. As we noted, there was a big question mark hanging over any predictions because it wasn't clear what turnout would look like.In part, that was because the Cochran campaign was explicitly targeting black voters to come out to vote, despite those voters usually voting Democratic.

Now, of course, we know what happened. Counties with a higher black population voted more heavily.

One can only HOPE that “the two parties are going to swirl down the drain together...”!

George Washington was right, political parties have become the ruination of our once-great republic. They’re nothing more than self-perpetuating, money-grubbing, influence-peddling criminal enterprises.

It’s nothing more than a tiny statement, but I’m going to the county courthouse tomorrow to change my voter registration to “independent”.

I have always voted for the rino before but I will NOT vote for new democrat thad cochran or any of his cronies or any state, federal, county or city candidate who does not repudiate what was done and those who did it.

I had already emailed the MS Republican Party and let my feelings known before I read your comment.

I then did the same to the National Republicans following your link. I was not very nice!

Thanks for providing it.

The Mississippi ballot has a space for a write that’s mandated by law but write in votes are not counted by law. The fact that you did will be noted and will be reflected as no vote for that office, more voters than votes cast. If a large number of people did it and especially if you used the same name it would make at least an impact on the rethuglians and give them someone to blame for thad’s loss. I plan on doing this and recruiting as many as I can to do the same.

A write-in “no” vote in November’s election will not hurt Cochran particularly. A vote for Travis Childers (arguably MORE conservative than Cochran has been) will however actually cancel out a November Cochran vote. Go that way Mississippi, vote for Cochran’s opponent and send the GOPe the message that we will no longer stay on their plantation and suffer their abuse.

Thank you, I just sent the following to the NRC, with no donation.

“I first voted in1964, I’ve never missed an election, primary, or runoff and never voted for a democrat. I’ve given a little money and I’ve worked for Republican candidates. The attacks from the gop against Conservative republicans has had me upset for a long time but the NRSCs involvement with money to that paid for racial slurs and offensive and untrue comments and the activities of the cochran campaign, the barbours, and the Mississippi gop has likely destroyed the Mississippi Republican party. I had already quit giving to the NRSC and the NRC because of the attacks on Conservatives, I now contribute directly to individual campaigns. The NRSC and the above mentioned will be responsible for the loss of a Senate seat in Mississippi. But I’m beginning to believe the powers that be would rather see it democrat than Conservative. Every Republican I know of uses the term CONSERVATIVE, it’s a word with meaning, not just an obligatory campaign slogan.”

I wonder in the GOP really screwed the pooch one this one. I am not talking about really pissing off the TEA Party. Looking at the demographics, the RATS can usurp the RINO ground game and elect a democrat senator.

I really don’t want childers and if it appears I can aid in keeping thad from winning as opposed to outright voting for childers, I’ll do it. If it appears we can get 50K no votes that’s also 50k votes that would have gone to thad. 100 thousand vote should make a difference. The campaign would need to be tied to a name and strong personality and the motive, don’t let them get away with doing this to us, to succeed. I would like to say take our party back but we’ve never really had it in Mississippi.

They POd more than just the Tea Party, they’ve POd the entire conservative base including many who voted for thad but didn’t really believe the democrat thing was happening.

Not really. The elites sidelined a conservative and that’s all they care about.

I have my suspicions that those who voted for Cochran didn’t think that far ahead. They were saving their food stamps - and voting against the racist Chris McDaniel. I guess they really are that stupid!
