For every great speech Newt gives, he has an alternative moment, as well. It’s almost as if he feels he has to balance the scales somehow. However, I think it goes even further. He’s likely looking at another run and wants to have support from both conservatives and establishment.

Once he snuggled up to Pelosi on the couch for that commercial, I was done with him. Hoped for Herman Cain but he got taken out (one of the “accusers” lived in the same building as Axelrod and “was aquainted” with him. hmmmmm), I was done after that. I am one of those 4 mm stayed home conservatives

I waited to meet Romney at a stop in PA (Quakertown)in May. When his bus heard there might be protestors, he wussed out and went to another stop. The friendlies outnumbered the bussed in by Philly SEIU 5or 6 to 1 and he wussed out. At that time, I knew I never could vote to entrust this nation to a coward who could not face some protest.
I don’t want Lamar’s influence on education. He is a Common Core supporter.

I was never a supporter of Newt Gingrich. However, I was around here during the election, and many on here thought the sun rose and set with Newt. All I could see in my mind was how he cozied up to Nazi Pelosi on that couch and some other liberal things he said and believed. He needs to retire as well.

As some of us tried repeatedly to point out in 2012, Gingrich is the quintessential beltway insider.
It was ironic that many on FR have wanted to see him debate Obama. They claimed that would the debate of the century. However, Gingrich lost to the guy who lost to the guy who lost to Obama. Gingrich lost BOTH of the Florida primary debates to Romney.
I have noticed the Newt supporters seem to have disappeared around here. I think Newt’s candidacy was designed to create division among conservatives. His flakiness and his inconsistent behavior was such that he never had a chance of winning. However, with a billionaire donor and some believers he was able to last in the primaries much longer than some of the better, but not so great either, choices.
That being said, I still preferred him over Romney.
Damn tough call, for sure. On one hand, Newt had the more conservative record in public office, that's for sure. On the other, he also had the more conservative constituency.
Romney did not seem to take a special delight in poking conservatives in the eye with a sharp stick on issues such as open borders, endorsing obvious RINOs over conservatives and the like as Newt did.
Personally, I backed Santorum and feel that Rick might have at least had an uphill chance to win if Newtie had gracefully bowed out after losing two of three neighboring states to Georgia.
Newtie basically played the Judas Goat role for Romney in 2012 just as Mike Huckabee played the Judas Goat role for McCain in 2008. With comparable disastrous results.
Gingrich and Lamar support codifying Obama’s amnesty. Definitely the legal status and work permits.
Newt thinks it is not compassionate to deport people like Obama’s Aunt Zeituni.
Maybe Newt would deport her since she is not a grandmother as far as I know.
