Sen. Roberts' GOP foe attacks Moran too in email

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — After months on the campaign trail criticizing one Kansas U.S. senator, tea party candidate Milton Wolf targeted the other one Thursday by accusing Republican Jerry Moran of being part of the Washington establishment that has "declared war on conservatives."

Wolf, who is running against three-term Sen. Pat Roberts in the GOP primary, criticized Moran because he's the chairman of the Republican National Senatorial Committee, which supported Mississippi Sen. Thad Cochran in his narrow GOP runoff victory this week against a tea party challenger.

Wolf's campaign sent an email to supporters Wednesday mentioning Moran by name and saying he's part of a GOP establishment that has "worked against the morals and ideals they pretend to stand on." Wolf also said during an interview that he holds Moran responsible for the national committee's "outright betrayal" of the Republican Party and its conservative base in Mississippi and other states.

"I am going to Washington to kick down the doors, tear down the drapes and auction off the Silver and China," Wolf said in the email to supporters. "And I'm also going to take the Washington Establishment head on."

Moran declined Thursday to respond to Wolf's criticism. But Leroy Towns, Roberts' executive campaign manager, said Wolf is seeking to divert attention from other issues, including the disclosure that several years ago, Wolf, a Leawood radiologist, posted graphic images from X-rays of gunshot wounds and other medical injuries with comments on a personal Facebook page — something for which Wolf apologized earlier this year.

"Nationally, he continues to try and raise the financial support he has not been able to find in Kansas and his attack on Senator Moran is just the latest version of that effort," Towns said.

Jerry Moran should be attacked. He's head of the RNSC. And look at his voting record! He's a McConnellite.

Moran is totally implicated in the Cochran election theft through the GOP fundraising that paid for it.

Don’t blame me - I voted for Todd Tiahrt in the 2010 Republican Senate primary. I was convinced then and even more so now that Moran was solidly in the Dole “let’s get along” camp. Moran, Roberts, Dole, and the rest of the country club Republicans in Kansas are somewhat conservative but they don’t hold on to the conservative principles with any tenacity and will compromise them away easily when the going gets tough.

Probably only Grassley, Mike Lee and Vitter(depends if he becomes governor) wont have serious primary challengers.

I'm not probably the right guy to ask - I'm not in that Congressional district. I liked what Tiahrt had to say in the 2010 Senate race but I've heard good things about Pompeo, too. Both seem to make the right enemies and the right friends.

It's a shame that one of these two couldn't run in Lynn Jenkins' district and defeat her in the primaries.
