"America Deluded Us" Slams Angry Iraq PM, Will Buy Russian Jets Instead In War Against ISIS
Zero Hedge ^ | 6/27/14 | Tyler Durden

Posted on 06/27/2014 5:50:11 AM PDT by Enlightened1

As BBC reports, citing Maliki, "Jets from Russia and Belarus will hopefully make a key difference in the fight against ISIS in Iraq." He expressed regrets over Iraq's contract with the US, saying their "jets are taking too long to arrive."

"God willing within one week this force will be effective and will destroy the terrorists' dens," he told BBC Arabic.

Excellent
The planes are going to end up in the rebel’s hands and who knows where after that.
Better some Migs than F-16s.

Maybe, but you need trained pilots to fly those planes. Even if you found the old MiG pilots, they would still need flight training and time to get up to speed. Not that it can’t be done, but a week (or even a month) is not realistic.

Bush didn’t pick him, he was voted on by the people from among a number that were running. Remember the purple index fingers?

Bush picked him out of a bunch of Shiite contenders. He could vetoed Maliki, due to US aid being crucial to any Iraqi government's survival, and the Dawa party would have have booted him. Allawi would have been a better choice.

While working in my yard, I was stuck by a thorn. Was that Bush's fault also?

Obama strikes up the theme, "It is Bush's fault." And his surrogates will parrot it throughout eternity.

See my #18

Much faster to get up to speed on, more forgiving, less maintenance/support, and less required infrastructure.

It seems like we are making a lot of countries mad us compared to the past.

EVERYTHING obama does either:

a) Weakens America/Americans
b) Distances America's allies
c) Strengthens America's enemies
d) Serves Islam
e) Harms Israel
Or some combination of the above.
I have yet to have anyone raise a single substantive counter example in several years of posting this.

Remember the purple index fingers?

Yes. If we did that here, we'd have a whole set of new office holders.

"Ironically, this also means that, at least optically, the US is now alligned with Russia as well as Iran, Syria and Saudi Arabia in the "all against one" fight against ISIS which continued to consolidate its territory in Iraq and Syria.

What it really means is that Obama has asked, and is about to get $500 milllion more to arm ISIS and its al-Qaeda peers in Syria, which in turn the Iraq air force will now use Russian jets to bomb.

This is a confused and bizarre foreign policy. It is the kind of policy that only smarmy twits like Marie Harf understand, because no one else can!

The Suadi’s/Qatari’s interest is putting an overland gas pipeline through ISIS territory and Turkey to Europe. With healthy royalties for Turkey.

The Russians (via their Shia proxies in Iran/Syria and now Iraq) interest is stopping this pipeline at all cost as it undermines their near monopoly on proving gas to Europe and the influence associated with such.

Saudi, Qatar, USA, Syrian Rebels, ISIS and Turkey...VS...Syria, Iran, Lebanon (Hezzbulah), and Russia.

Trying to remain, or at least appear neutral: Kurds, Jordan and Kuwait.

The Kurds aren’t that neutral. They also need to move their oil through Turkey. They are currently opposed by Baghdad -which continues to claim Kurdish territory and resources as its own, and ISIS with whom they’re still working out the Kurdistan-Sunnistan border.
