WASHINGTON Speaker John A. Boehner announced Wednesday that he would introduce legislation next month allowing the House to sue President Obama over his use of executive actions.
In a letter to lawmakers, Mr. Boehner expressed concern with what he and many in the Republican conference considered the presidents unconstitutional overreach.
The Constitution makes it clear that a presidents job is to faithfully execute the laws; in my view, the president has not faithfully executed the laws, Mr. Boehner told reporters. And when theres conflicts like this between the legislative branch and the administrative branch its, in my view, our responsibility to stand up for this institution in which we serve.
Representative Nancy Pelosi of California, the Democratic leader, called Mr. Boehners move subterfuge, and Josh Earnest, the White House press secretary, said that it seems that Republicans have shifted their opposition into a higher gear.
Frankly, its a gear that I didnt know previously existed, Mr. Earnest said. The fact that they are considering a taxpayer-funded lawsuit against the president of the United States for doing his job, I think, is the kind of step that most Americans wouldnt support.

crybaby likes to kick up dust and talk about doing something than actually doing it.
he is worthless and should have already been replaced.
maybe next month .... sort’a
No matter who is doing it ... I like this kind of legal action against Obama! I’m all for it.
It’s gotta be done ... sooner or later. Obama has to be knocked down and any future copy-cat Obama has to have the door closed.
Exactly what are they suing for? What damages?
I can imagine figurative damages as in damages to the reputation of the United States.
What will a judge sign in the order? Will he sign that the POTUS must rescind his EOs? And what of separation of powers?
I would like to see Obama prosecuted on another of fronts but there is only one way to deal with his actions and that is impeachment.
But I don’t get what or how a lawsuit accomplishes anything.
If the court throws out Boehner’s suit, the the GOP has egg on their face. And it is a possibility because of separation of powers.
Boehnor’s actions here make no sense and are risky.
They lost a similar type of action with the Defense of Marriage Act - but I think this one won’t be like that.
Let’s hope the US Supreme Court slaps down Obama - again - making it THIRTEEN TIMES of slapping Obama silly by the US Supreme Court!
Levin who has practiced before the court besides filing several “amicus” briefs through his foundation seems to feel any suit Bohner would file would have no standing. But individuals and entities; companies, cities, and states affected by Obama’s unconstituional modifications in Obamacare among other edicts would.
They would have standing as a “body” - the US House of Representatives. It’s a Constitutional issue of the President treading on the Comstitutional powers of the US House of Representatives.
“That body” - the US House of Representatives - is the only one who would have standing.
Please Lord Jesus, let us in Maine secede on June 12, 2018, let it be Thy will Lord. Amen.
Lawsuits are for when you are injured. When the president hurts the nation, it is tie foe impeachment.
I’m sure the Attorney General will expedite this important case and put it on the top of his priority list.
It wouldn’t be the Speaker, it would be the U.S. House of Representatives.
it may not work but worth a try - instead of putting him down why not get behind him and support the legislation.
The Republican leadership needs to go on a nationwide push to pick up support - conservatives like FR get on the phone, write opinion pieces, etc. It is a long shot but all things are possible.
It wouldn’t be handled by him ... :-) ...
The President was just slapped down in one in the last few days - which was posted here on Free Republic. That makes 12 times, which has severely impacted what Obama “wanted” to do.
I say keep doing it over and over again, until he’s gone.
John Boehner has a vagina.
Will that help the US House of Representatives in their arguments with the US Supreme Court? ... :-) ...
They make sense if you want to act like you are doing something.
It is a stunt, that takes the pressure of actually doing something.
Waste of time.
