Beginning in September, Google plans to block firearm, ammunition, and gun accessory ads.

According to Google Support's "Dangerous Products or Services" page, the company "[wants] to keep people safe both online and offline, so [they] won't allow the promotion of some products or services that cause damage, harm, or injury."

Included in the dangerous products for which ads will be blocked are "Guns & Parts." This covers "functional devices that appear to discharge a projectile at high velocity, whether for sport, self-defense, or combat."

I don’t mean instantly cracked, all they have to do is capture it and go through it later. Have You seen the new nsa center? And that is just what they show Us.

The old guard stazi/kgb are slobbering on themselves wishing they had the stuff we do now back in their days. May as well toss Ol’ j. edgar in that group too.

zer0 can kiss My puckered ass. I don’t like him, never did, never will.

If I was going for total privacy I would be off the grid and contact nobody, have no computers or cell phone.

I will not hide My Patriotism or Love for My Country. They have know My opinions for a long time. I will not change them.

Well, like I said, my FRiend, all we can do is try.

I still have to give you credit from moving away from the advertising data mining operation cleverly disguised as free email. Most people I know can’t wrap their heads around that.

“Dangerous Products or Services”

Guess that includes lying media...ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NYT, LAT, etc...

I think they still fall into the category of “services”?

Or porn. THAT would set them back a notch or two.

I've been around here for years and that's about the harshest thing anyone ever has ever said to me.

I've been in the technology industry for a long time. I've participated and watched the genesis and growth of the Internet since the beginning. I've invented a lot of software, beta tested a lot of hardware, built data centers and handled billions of records. Idiot? Sure, at times but I believe in property rights and google built their company on property owned by others. That is something you cannot dispute no matter how smart you may think you are.

Anyone that watched the genesis of google could see that they had a really bright idea. Good for them. But to say that they have some right to other peoples content was and still is wrong headed from a property rights standpoint. I could provide you with numerous analogies regarding property you may likely own that if the possession and use of such property was infringed upon you in the same fashion google infringes on property you would likely think it prudent to take up arms. But I suspect such things would exceed the height of your the apex between your ears.

Considering you line of thinking I wonder if you think it absurd or ironic that today google polices and scrubs content that they decide is unworthy of providing. Recently they decided to censor (yea, I understand the true meaning of the word) web pages that may have words that say things like "gun for sale". If they can decide what content to provide or not provide cannot you see the comedy in your "first amendment" assertion?

The idea that what is yours is yours but it is mine too is a very odd to me. How anyone can think that simply because something like google is a valuable tool that means that they should realize profit off the work of others is indeed idiot to me. But, the cat is out of the bag when it comes to google and a lot of other electronic systems that hold and provide information either constructed by other or ON others.

So GooGle wishes to deprive folks the right to defend themselves.. while they do drive-bys of every street in the world.. so crooks know what your home layout looks like.

How revealing of the little russian-bred bastards..

Just put the hammer and sickle on your homepage , ya putz.

“I think I’ll use Duck Duck Go from now on.”

May I suggest - bad idea? I use duckduckgo for a lot of searches - think it were either GeronL or kartographer that put me on to it, but I do know one thing. A sudden change in pattern is always suspicious.

Keep on using Google for the little things. Need a new fridge? Google it to check prices. Trading in your old car? Google it to find the best trade in value.
Want to search out real news? DuckDuckGo it.

It’s like getting away from bank cards. Suddenly stopping using your cards is a red flag. Using them for common purchases, just less often, raises no alarms. These are the times we have to be sneaky.

Would that be like - buying DOS for 50K and then approaching IBM with “your” great idea???

An easy way to avoid having Google index a site is to not put it out on a public server.

I put them on public servers because I want people to find them. Google and others help me achieve that goal. They should pay me for helping me?

"Duck Duck Go

Exactly. I've been using Duck Duck Go for about six months now. I retreat from any thing I find that's associated with Google. And, Yahoo too.

Google is a platform for targeted advertising. If you by chance search for “car insurance”, they will relentlessly spam you with adds and banners for the next month dealing with car insurance. So...dad or little Johnny does a search for a gun or a part...maybe just in curiosity...and googles is setup to then endlessly flash you advertisements for the same -it’s what they do. The problem probably comes when Mom or girlfriend or baby-mamma then uses the same computer under the same account and sees a host of gun related adds.

Yea and their map and phone applications are getting worse and worse.

I’m fixing to ditch the company as well, it seems like their focusing their resources on promoting ideology rather than innovative and related technology.

That is scary for the prospect of political discourse in this country because Google is so huge and powerful able and capable of swashing decent.

Have you seen this crapola?

The Don’t-Be-Evil corporation is going to use technology to ban advertisements from law-abiding gun/parts businesses because they want to keep us safe.

How sweet. /s

Either we have the freedom to peacefully assemble (or not assemble) or we do not. Time for some legal ju-jitsu. Sue Google under the same laws that force Christians to serve homos and force them to carry the advertisements.

Personally, I am of the opinion that so called “anti discrimination laws” are a clear violation of the freedom of assembly clause.
