The Washington Post reported Friday that party players who were supporting soon-to-be-former Congressman Eric Cantor have pulled a fast one on the man who defeated him.
Last week during a 7th District Committee meeting in Virginia, Cantor loyalists who still sit on the 7th District Committee outmaneuvered Brat supporters to strip the committee of most of its budget nearly $400,000. According to the Washington Post, a parliamentary maneuver allowed the money to be moved so that Brats campaign couldnt use it. Brat was to use the money for a get out the vote campaign.
The move may assist the candidacy of Democratic opponent Jack Trammell who will be running against Cantor over the next four months.
But those who were supporting Cantor are apparently still not over the fact that Brat has placed Cantor into retirement. Soon Cantor will have to vacate his suite of offices in the U.S. Capitol that are located between the Rotunda and Statuary Hall. And soon Cantor will lose his four person Secret Service-like U.S. Capitol Police security detail that has been driving him from Richmond to Washington DC and toy any other event of his choosing.
Cantors aloofness in his district is what turned many constituents off. He appeared to be too important for town halls, meetings with constituents and questionnaires asking about his views on the important issues of he day. Now, his operatives are making it difficult of man who sent Cantor packing.
The maneuver prompted an angry outcry from Brats camp.
They just wanted to get the money out of the committee so we wouldnt have it. It was retribution, said Robert Stuber, the Posts reports. The deep divide between Tea Party Republicans and the rest of the party continues.

Cantor, proving to be the weasel we figured he was.
And here you have absolute, irrefutable proof that the GOPe do not have the best interest of the party or the country at heart.
Mississippi was not enough proof for you?
The libs are infesting the GOP... They have taken over quietly but soundly.
Cantor’s no doubt headed for a cush gig on K Street. These “loyalists” just want to make sure they get invited along for the ride.
It really says a lot about your local political ‘thugs’. This wasn’t done by the DC crowd....this was Republican county chiefs from the eastern side of Virginia. They met...discussed in a short session...a couple of guys disagreed, but the vote was done and that was the end of the episode.
In my book....none of these guys are real Republicans...just more fakers...like the big league guys in DC. There’s a problem here with both parties. Both need to be completely fired, and bring in several options for folks to clean up this mess.
Remember this when people on FR tell us to “vote for the most conservative guy on the ticket.” We’re being scammed.
This is why Republicans lose Presidential elections. The old guard that has grown to be little more then democrat lite is more interested in maintaining their personal positions then in the Republicans winning the White House
Brat won’t need the money. He is in a highly Republican district. He is in. Cantor is out and good riddance to bad rubbish!
“...In my book....none of these guys are real Republicans...”
Weasels. All of them.
Democrats don’t have all the childish spoiled brats.
Anyone who thinks it is disloyal to not support a RINO needs only look at the lack of support conservative candidates receive from RINOs.
When we win a primary, they would rather see the conservative lose than the Democrat. I feel the same way about McConnell, Graham, and Cochran. Not gonna vote for people who hate us and prefer the Democrats.
Puzzling to me.
Hmmmm...continued minority control of a multi-trillion dollar Treasury or “not”.
THAT IS THE FULL ISSUE in the labeled “GOPe v. TEA Party”. Thwere isn’t a single one of the GOPe (AKA: “incumbant”) that wants to lose the ability to provide millions to his constituency and remian in office because of that expenditure...that includes the implication of “walking around money” in Mississippi!
Subpoena the sales recods of VISA, MasterCard and AmEx for their sales of “gift cards” in the US and abroad.
“Cantor, proving to be the weasel we figured he was.”
And they’ve replaced him with McCarthy, The Weasel in Waiting!! Then there’s the Weasel in Chief, John Boner. We need a lot more “replacement activity.”
The most infuriating thing is they handle political issues poorly. Boehner and McDonnell will give Dems tons of quotes they use as campaign fodder. If they were good leaders they could justify their electioneering. But they suck.
How do the posters here who say we need to support Cochran and McConnell square this away? Brat is a solid conservative and here is the leadership trying to hurt his chances.
It’s the same reason why Tea Party backed senate candidates lost in 2010 and 2012. The GOP leadership wants to dictate policy to the grassroots just like the Democrats do.
That reminds of the scene in “Goodfellas” where the mob boss decides to kill everyone involved in a robbery that could trace it back to him. A couple of guys spoke up in support of a longtime friend but the boss said “why take chances?” so he was whacked.
Cutting off one’s nose to spite one’s face.
WHY is the Establishment GOP so EAGER to cut their own throat? Oh, not all at once, but death by a thousand cuts, so to speak.
This was a local phenomenon, reflecting a much more clarified vision of what is right for the district and its conservative constituents, not what is right for the state party or national party.
The binding rules of leadership -
1 - Find a parade and get around in front of it;
2 - Step off smartly and express every nuance of those who have gathered into the parade; and finally,
3 - From time to time, look back and see if anybody is still in your parade.
The cry has been heard over and over, “I didn’t leave the party, the party left me.”
Find a party that DOES march to your drummer.
Working on it...
Every RINO we remove is one less to stab us in the back.
Remember in November.
