Leader of Mississippi College Republicans Resigns to Join Democrats
The Daily Caller ^ | June 30, 2014 | Alex Pappas

The leader of the Mississippi Federation of College Republicans announced Monday morning that he is resigning as chairman of the state organization — and has plans to become a Democrat now.

“I am leaving my position in the organization and have begun to speak to members of the Mississippi Democratic Party and will be changing my party affiliation to Democrat in the next few days,” Chairman Evan Alvarez said in a statement to Mississippi’s Clarion-Ledger newspaper.

Alvarez’s resignation immediately drew a rebuke from the leader of the College Republican National Committee (CRNC), who told The Daily Caller on Monday that it was “based on self-interest, not principle.”

“As chair of the CRNC, some would expect I would be disappointed by today’s news. I am not,” College Republican National Committee Chairwoman Alex Smith told TheDC. “This defection was based on self-interest, not principle.”

Added Smith: “Mr. Alvarez will feel increasingly lonely in a party that is hemorrhaging young voters because of President Obama’s and Democrats’ extreme left wing agenda that is crippling our generation.”

And some wonder why folks think there’s not much difference between ‘em.

The only difference between Alvarez and Cochran is Alvarez has the cajones to make it official.

Pendejos. Both of 'em.

Hey, Alverez undoubtedly has come to the realization that his IQ just is not up to even typical university “social science” levels. As such, his only recourse is to join a group of his mental matches...e.g., the Democratic party so as to earn a dishonest living and pretend he has a modicum of intelligence.

“This defection was based on self-interest, not principle.”

This is exactly what Thad Cochran did. At least Mr. Alvarez had the honesty to make it official. I do not believe that he was serving under any indenture to the Republican Party. I doubt that he finds the Democrats much to his liking unless, of course, he thinks like Thad Cochran.

I have no idea how anyone could be a Democrat these days.

Which puts me the shame, because I’m still on the Republican registration rolls.

There isn’t a dimes worth of difference between them these days.

Evan Alvarez @evmalvarez · 5h

Effective today, I will no longer be Chairman or even a member of @missfcr. I cannot standby people who don't follow rules. @CRNC

Evan Alvarez @evmalvarez · Jun 25

The attitude of McDaniel supporters are uncalled for and are the reason why it will be very hard to unify our party.

Never forget-—Cochran was a dem. As was Trent Lott. So is this principle? Doubt it. Dude was paid by Barbour and now is moving to next payor for the main election.
A parliament of whores.

To the tea party, just because you didn’t win doesn’t mean yall have to be sore losers and divide the GOP more than yall have already done.

Evan Alvarez @evmalvarez · Jun 24

I just voted for @ThadforMS, have you?

Tomorrow you can choose between a work horse like @ThadforMS, or someone who will be a show horse out to promote himself, not Mississippi.

Probably did it because of a girl.

The President of my college’s CRs endorsed Perot because his girlfriend wanted him to. We all had a good laugh when, a couple months after the election, she dumped his a** for a pre-med student.

The whole MS cheating primary scandal really puts the spotlight on the GOPe with the Libdems on the same stage... in the same spotlight.

The gope will rue this day. They have officially forsaken the base.

The attitude that Republicans should choose the Republican nominee is uncalled for? What a fool!

After reading the article I’m surprised he’s resigning. He hates the Tea Party and Conservatives and the gop apparently agrees with him and will do anything to destroy them. Maybe he’s upset that conservatives aren’t being rounded and shot.

So was Shelby of Alabama. Ran one of the most despicable campaigns I have ever seen to unseat Jeremiah Denton, a true American hero.

Yes, how dare they react negatively to being called racists by a political pimp running for re-election.

Another clueless idiot.

He’s realized Cochran won’t be the next sinator. Thus, he’s padding his resume to be on Childers team somewhere.

This is what you get when Christian groups are forced to accept atheists, Republicans are forced to accept Democrats, but never, NEVER, force a vegan group to accept meateaters or a feminist group to accept hetersexual women as members.
