Las Vegas Running Out Of Water
Brietbart ^ | June 30, 2014 | William Bigelow

Posted on 06/30/2014 6:36:19 PM PDT by Vince Ferrer

If you like taking a shower every day, don’t move to Las Vegas. The city is beginning to run out of water because Lake Mead is well below half-full and drying up, according to the UK Telegraph.

The area has faced a drought for the last 14 years, and despite the presence of Lake Mead, the largest reservoir in the U.S. and the supplier of 90% of the city’s water, the future looks bleak.

Move to where the water is!

But seriously, I have a solution. Bring in hundreds of thousands of immigrants from tropical areas with plenty of water, so they can live here and use our water in a drought.

Build a couple of desalization plants as the Israelis have and pump the water via pipeline to Nevada.

Tens of millions enter illegally, as the government escorts freight train loads more in.

They all consume water and energy, but all Americans needs to cut back more and more and save our precious water....Government sponsored national suicide...

A pipeline isn't necessary, just have Los Angeles, which owns a lot of water rights on the colorado, build a desalination plant, and sell some water rights upstream to Las Vegas. Las Vegas would get an extra allotment at Lake Mead, no actual water transport would be necessary. That is, if there is water in Lake Mead.

"The Las Vegas Strip has seen the problem and acted accordingly... and restaurants only serve water upon request."

Problem solved.

We do need a plan for our aquifers, which we are drawing down way to fast. We could have a plan to store extra water in aquifers, and rebuild them.

Cross the Colorado River daily where I live ... it has been running above flood stage for the last several weeks. Not sure what is getting siphoned off downstream but most of this water should eventually arrive in Lake Mead.

They don’t have to build a lake they’ll only be dry.
Oh, I forgot there are dry lakes all over NV since the water from the last ice age dried up.
Those Native Americans were driving their SUV’s and building coal fired power generation stations all over NV for the last 10,000 years. Sheesh! It’s the Native Americans fault. /s/

Within 20 miles of where I live in Florida there are at least 3 springs pouring out I guess maybe millions of gallons of water an hour.

I wonder if some of that could be tapped and sent by pipeline to areas which need it.

The Mississippi River is flooding right now. It's been raining like crazy. The ground is saturated so the water runs off on the streets and low lying areas. They are warning people about flash floods.

4th of July events and locations are being changed.

Lots of trees down. Power outages here and there, usually get it back on fairly quickly. Now lightning must have struck the radio towers so I can't listen to my programs. Hope my power stays on. If it does, I'll go to bed and listen to the thunder. Last night the cat got so scared he came and jumped up on my bed, like it's safer. It's antique iron.

It's supposed to be over by tomorrow and following days, cooler.

The population of Las Vegas has more than doubled since 1990. At about 600,000 it’s not really huge, but as Sam K. said, “You’re living in a DESSSSERRRRRRTTTTT !!!!!”
