Robert De Niro Talks About Father's Homosexuality Conflict; 'Prayers Don't Help,' Father Said
Christian Post ^ | 07/02/2014 | Hayley Olson

Robert De Niro said in a recent interview that his late father never discussed his homosexuality.

"He was very private so he wouldn't go into that with me," De Niro told Katie Couric on Yahoo News. "I don't really know much about that side of my father."

The Academy Award winning actor said he did have "some inkling" that his father was gay and his mother even made some inferences but it was never "brought up."

"You kind of ... knew but didn't know," he said.

De Niro has been making media rounds to promote his documentary, "Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr." The actor used his father's journal entries to chronicle the life of the artist, who died of prostate cancer at 71 years old in 1993.

In the documentary, De Niro Jr. reads several journal entries where his father describes his struggle with homosexuality.

"If God doesn't want me to be a homosexual (about which I have so much guilt) he will find a woman whom I will love and who will love me or at least create an interest in me in women as sexual partners," De Niro Sr. wrote.

"The pills don't help or the prayers either. God! God! God!"

In another journal entry, De Niro Sr. – whose paintings include depictions of Jesus and the cross – wrote, "Being a painter is an affliction. Like being a homosexual. One has to have the strength to continue working without the recognition either before or after death just as one had to have the strength to accept life alone without the thought of romantic attachment."

The younger De Niro, who wants to promote his father's art work, said his parents divorced when he was 11 or 12 but actually separated when he was 2 or 3 years old.

"Obviously, I realize now that it was hard for him," the actor said.

This situation is produced and egged on by some pretty cruel lies from hell.

One secular doctor posited that all humans are actually bisexual. That would be one way of looking at the sin nature and its potential for being a medium of evil.

It is so easy for sin to taint sex that one major world religion (not Christianity) actually attributes sexual reproduction to evil wishes, not good ones.

The flip side of this is that God’s righteousness can also powerfully imbue and purify sex, if it is invited sincerely into one’s heart and life. People who pray have vaguely the right idea, but “pace” some therapists, the right idea is not to pray the gay away but to pray the straight in. God is more powerful than Satan; good is more powerful than evil.

personally I believe we all develop two sexual models in our mind..

That that we want...
That that we want to be.

Those can get co mingled... the concept of sexual confusion

Notice I use the word ‘natural,’ not normal.”

I noticed, otherwise I was going to bring it up. Heart disease is also natural and a sickness, so I don’t get his claim that homosexuality is not a sickness.

De Niro is real good in movies for some reason. In real life I cannot STAND this dim bulb.

I know, right? It's like Sinatra. Unmatched artistic technique; revolting personal choices.

File this one under “Too Much Information” Who cares? And why do these people feel a need to wave their dirty laundry around? Is this a way of showing how in touch with liberal values someone is? “Hey look at me - I had a homo father too...!”

Bingo.

Can anybody give an explanation for this?

The explanation is they suddenly decide they don't want to be homosexual anymore.

that young men have so many hormones flowing, they can “get off” easily, regardless of where they’re putting their “equipment

Any port in a storm?

At no point in my life, no matter how horny, I have never considered a homosexual act as an alternative.

De Niro Jr. needs to contemplate whether his father could have been corrupted in childhood by a priest, and was in denial about it and a state of suppressed rage against the true God.

I thought DeBlasio was married to a black woman, I’ve seen pictures of him with his wife and kids. Where does this Anne Hech thing come from?

Maybe you were not born with the excess “female” hormones? .... only “male” ones...

I had a doctor in NYC who use to have DeNiro paintings in her hallway. I was a kid and they depressed me!

gay does not imply a lack of the abilty or sexual repulsion for the opposite sex..gay is preference for the same sex.

Most men feel a sense of revulsion in the idea of a homosexual act. It is why they have often reacted violently to even the slightest move on the part of a gay guy.

In the bad old days of my youth in NYC, it was common to see gay friends and gay co-workers showing up with black eyes and cut lips. We all knew what had happened the night before!

"You kind of ... knew but didn't know," he said.

Ah, those were the days. This perspective worked for centuries. Closets are there for a reason.

DeBlasio’s wife is a lesbian. Anne Heche claimed (probably, falsely) to be gay and then got married.

The actress, Louise Brooks, was once asked why so many lesbians got married. She replied “Because they have to eat.” The gorgeous Louise was straight, hated being married, and ended up in abject poverty.

DeNiro's work seems to be influenced by Picasso.

Based on the one example you posted, I would have said Matisse instead, but I would have to see others before coming to any conclusion.

I dont think they're considered that valuable----

Some of them were stolen by that Salander guy who ran a gallery and went to jail for accepting paintings to hold or sell---not telling clients he had sold them.....and kept the money.

Robert jr settled the case by accepting $14,000 for 6 of his father's works.

I think he uses natural and normal in the same way as you say sleeping and being awake is natural and normal ....sleep is a natural..but normal functioning is being awake.
